It's an affectionate nickname for Hexbear. You might know that they behave like a bunch of 4channers, throwing and smearing their poop around; and Hexagon=>6 sides (must spell it out clearly, else the smart kids won't understand)... both combined make 6chan.
can anyone explain why I keep seeing their garbage after attempting to block everything hexbear related? I don't even mind the occasional tankie that much, but this lot is fucking bonkers.
Lemmy and federation is very buggy. I'm from an instance which hexbear defederated from, but I sometimes still see posts from hexbear when browsing all+new. It seems like it doesn't always get around to checking defederation when fetching new threads.
4chan isn't tankies and 4chan isn't just /pol/ there are plenty of boards on there that have no equivalent anywhere including reddit or lemmy like /lit/. I bet people on hexbear haven't even read a book in the last decade.
I never said anything about political inclinations, it's the trollish and toxic behaviors that are comparable. You even quote me saying "behave". Don't be *a Hexbear please...
*Thanks for pointing out the typo, dear 6channers, much appreciated :)
Of most extremists, Tankies are actually quite active in their reading material... Unfortunately, they don't read to learn opposing views or even what historically occurred, but instead to bolster themselves in an attempt to appear smarter-than-thou, 'Look at how many books I've read!' -- As if that means anything.
If it's anything like the alt right Russian propagandists the reading material only includes easily disproven badly written propaganda and ignoring any piece of history that makes their country of choice look bad and twist anything negative to obscene levels. I don't believe these people are history buffs nevermind people that fact check their "facts". The only one up they have on people is that they have an argument ready for the most common attack vectors against their fascism.
I've argued with my fair share of tankies on reddit and you can never win even if you provide all the facts and sources. They will ignore them or say they don't matter etc... etc...
/lit/ is mostly clean I had made thread there that were 150 comments deep and no insults or slurs. You can also use 4chanx to filter comments too. Lot of stuff on /g/ is good too especially when it gets technical.
