From my outside perspective, he seems like an amazing candidate with actual left-wing policies and ideas, yet I've never heard a single American mention his name?

From his Wikipedia page, he's a philosopher with no political associations. He's also from Oklahoma, and at best Oklahoma is just an OK state

Well, you see, I didn't mention that because I didn't read past the list of facts about him where it said independent, and honestly I just can't be trusted to do proper research
