You don't want Jensen Ackles to represent the "bad" choice.
I mean, he's an analogy for Jim Crow America that didn't do as much to beat the Nazis as it pretends... But yes, still probably better than Homelander.
You are of course correct wrt Soldierboy. But, forgive my fangirling, I'm talking about Jensen specifically, not the character :)
