same! I almost never commented on reddit but I've felt a lot more comfortable being active here. Something about the size of it led me to always be of the opinion that 'whatever I'm thinking, it's already been said'.
The copy/paste thing has got to go. It's somewhat non-obvious and make federation even more confusing when people click links and end up not logged in anymore.
Not to rain on anyone's parade but I'd be shocked in reddit hard deletes comments given how valuable that data is.
Agreed Lemmy is a lot cleaner IMO. I'd be all-in if it weren't for the political baggage, even with federation we're empowering these guys and giving them a bigger platform. l'm still uneasy about that.
Wanting to learn something hits the nail on the head. I recently came to the realization that I used to learn things on reddit, especially in the comments. Not sure when that stopped but it's why I had been wishing for an alternative for a while.
I dunno, "too political" can just mean people don't want every discussion to devolve into politics. Having these strong left communities front and center can give that impression. I don't need to read a low effort "capitalism bad" on every topic. I hope this doesn't devolve into that, but filtering out the politically apathetic sends us in direction for that to happen.
