  • The popularity of brachycephalic dogs especially French bulldogs and backyard breeders of them and their horrible health issues. 90 percent of people who have them have no idea why their 5,000 dollar dog can't breath or aspirates or get paralyzed/horrible back pain.

  • 10 years ago, Google launched the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, and no tablet has captured its magic since
  • I had that phone also, anytime anyone would see it outside they would marvel at how large it is. Now I have a fold which is even bigger when unfolded. The dell streak from what I remember feels like an s23u would be similar size to it but it was probably larger due to bezels and the aspect ratio

  • GPD Win Mini size comparisons
  • Wow. It's so small and portable. The only thing is I wish it had steamos that's really the only thing keeping me from buying any of these other handhelds and staying with the steam deck.

  • Steam Oven?
  • I use the anova precision oven for sous vide. I think its great as I can do an express where I have a slightly higher temperature then drop it to the regular sous vide temperature. I use it almost weekly for chicken breast. I don't use bags but usually that's for shorter cooks. It doesn't feel as wet as traditional sous vide with an immersion circulator feels but it works for me because when I batch cook chicken breast usually I'm too lazy to sear it. A tip for it is basically always using a thermometer probe for shorter cooks. I am trying a 24 hour cook this week and do have my beef in a bag because it does dry out a bit or so I've read. I recently got a chamber vac so I may be doing more longer cooks in it. Excited to see how it does for longer cooks and how it holds up but so far I'm loving it. I do also appreciate the precision more for reverse searing steaks also because it can help to dry out the outside and I feel like I get a better crust when using the thermometer probe it comes with, lower steam levels and higher temperature but that starts to get away from sous vide.

  • Linux for Microsoft Surface devices. It is reality!
  • Hmm I'm also still using a surfacebook 2 but with windows 11 and it's been giving me some issues like hard locks and sometimes overheating. Does the gpu work too or is that not possible? Might switch if that is supported and it does have better battery life.

  • What goes good with American Cheese?
  • As weird as this sounds my brother and I eat a slice of American cheese with a banana and it tastes surprisingly good. Just a banana with cheese wrapped around it nothing else. Might be the most out there but I still enjoy it from time to time.

  • Apple introduces offline Maps—but how does it compare with Google Maps?
  • I use android auto and carplay and for some reason Google maps is crippled on car play. Can't move the map around with the touchscreen or change routes easily, apple maps has those features on carplay and Google maps has those features on Android auto. I'm not sure if it's apple trying to push apple maps and disallowing those features, but it does push me towards apple maps or just using android auto for Google maps.

  • Boox Palma is a 6-inch e-reader with full Android, and the size of a phone
  • I believe their other readers work with moon+ reader and other apps. I was debating getting one of the color ones and if you can deal with the slow refresh rate of eink and some apps not being optimized with page flashes etc, then it's a good choice. Also interested in this as a beach "phone" to be able to easily bring it when it's super bright out and have a readable display.

  • GM ditching CarPlay could go bad, complain car dealers
  • I feel like a big plus of it too is not requiring additional subscriptions to internet, especially to get live info. Once you reach 2-3 years of your included internet with cars then, its time for the subscriptions for internet and other services to begin. IMO most would want to avoid paying for more subscriptions when you have a perfectly good phone in your pocket that can be hooked up to do everything the car is asking you to pay for monthly. Another thing for me is being able to use your phone or phone keyboard to look stuff up, before you start driving, to find stuff much quicker rather than typing on the infotainment system. Also updates don't rely on the car manufacturer to continue updating their system.
