What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?
  • Anything arch, basically. Maybe I'm just a too lower tier power user, but I have always returned to Mint. Rock solid daily driver working out of the box. I don't really want to have to tinker with the os, I admit. It should just work.

  • Metal music with Linux?
  • I personally like the fact that u-he, acmt and audio damage provide their plugins on linux. I know, not FOSS, but game changing when it comes to switching music production over to linux. Vital is also available on linux, as is bitwig as host.

  • Mixxx 2.3.6
  • well, hopefully they're exciting features.

  • Spaceballs II
  • Knowing the quote, I'd find this bolder:
    The surge of more money!

  • Google Bard hallucinates a solar sail that travels "100 times the speed of light"
  • Whenever I see this I have to chuckle. Humans do this all the time, whip stuff up as they go, lie, pretend. The AI can only do what it has learned from us people. So it lies, makes stuff up and pretends. Why is this so surprising?

  • hmmm
  • Oh, a classic. The Standwich

  • eingedeutschte Anglizismen auf der Arbeit
  • größer / kleiner = als
    gleich = wie

    so bald wie möglich
wenn schon, dann müsste es bälder als möglich heißen. Und ein echter Scotty schafft das auch.

  • The irony
  • creationists vs. fossil facts = evolutionists vs. cambrian explosion

  • Just reddit things -.-
  • Wha'! Why!

  • I don't understand why people still want to use reddit instead of moving to Lemmy or Kbin
  • although, I'm sure, google results will adjust accordingly eventually.

  • YOU DIED/SNAAAKE/RESPAWN/GAME OVER
  • already playing on the lowest setting T_T

  • options for a midrange phone replacement
  • Thanks for the info! Headphone jack is not a huge loss for me as I use bluetooth headphones already. Fingerprint is kind of bummer to hear, I wanted to switch partially because the fingerprint on the edge 20 sometimes randomly just goes unresponsive to any kind of touch. Meh :-/

  • Looking at Reddit’s career page, I don’t think Reddit will be relenting any time soon: Machine Learning Posts (Ads: Meaning they want to eliminate all third-party apps)
  • ... suppose these algorithms will be real efficient once they have significant less users to consider. win/win

  • options for a midrange phone replacement
  • I'd also tend towards a Pixel, 7a probably, like @neoNgEcho mentioned. Are there any blatant cons to such a decision? What about realworld battery life?

  • What is your favorite ever DOS game?
  • While mentioning Sid Meier: Also Civilization. Sunk quite some time into it.

  • What is your favorite ever DOS game?
  • That soundtrack though 👌

  • Waterfall is Back!
  • joke's on you. we use the burnup!

  • Star Trek: Discovery’s upcoming fifth season will be its final voyage
  • Discovery as an idea of a show would work way better in a starwars universe rather than star trek. Star trek shows usually at least pretend to care about science. Discovery threw that out the window right from the start, and excelled at keeping anything scientific miles away. Not trying to diss the show, but wrong universe imho.

not really into high end smartphones as i don't have a usecase for those. don't need an above average camera, if any at all. currently i am using a motorola edge 20 as my daily workhorse and overall i am not unhappy with it. Just sometimes it seriously hangs and occasionally reboots. also probably sooner or later updates will cease, i would assume.

if i was to look for a replacement in the ... let's say 400 - 600 eur/usd price range ... what kind of phone would make sense to purchase? i rarely use any apps other than a browser, really. no gaming intended.
