Agreed but I do think that's because the nature of the sub was more academic though, so having some kind of rigor makes sense. Not sure that's the model to follow for every community

I appreciate that. What bugs me is when people don't read the name of the sub they're in though - if it's askUK or casualuk then maybe it's not the place to talk about America, particularly when it's an advice thread about laws for example.

Could be due to the version of the instance you're on. Beehaw is on an older version and Jerboa crashes when you open it as Jerboa is on the latest version.
I know it sounds ridiculous but I would feel a bit bad for blocking a community just because I couldn't understand the language.

UK- we don't boil water here unless there's an issue with the pipes. I got told not to drink the water in places like Spain and Italy as it could make me unwell, but not sure if that's as big a deal now.
It's not a huge issue these days as far as I know. You will see some old plumbing systems have signs next to the tap saying 'not drinking water' but I can't remember the last time I saw one like that.
Thanks for this! Personally speaking I was fine as I had a passport, but I work in a sector where a lot of people are struggling and that loss of opportunity to just pop in without thinking can make a difference.
