  • Nope, it's Mr. Lovenstein. You can tell by the style, but also the (pretty easy-to-miss) watermark right in the middle of the panels

  • Depends on how it feels when I'm not shitting and pissing in it.

If it craves my waste, but can be chill during the time I'm not using it, then I'd choose that. However, if it spends all that time in agony from not having its desires met, then I'd rather it hates it, since it would only have to go through that a couple of times each day versus suffering almost all day long.

  • Why is a โ€œshit-eating grinโ€ called that?
  • I always figured it was meant to describe the kind of person who could sit and happily eat an entire plate of shit, and yet still think they've got things more figured out than anyone else.

  • At least don't be the asshole that pops them off on any day that isn't the holiday in question.

Like, at least on the day of, there's sort of a tacit understanding for people with PTSD and nervous pets that THIS is the day to be prepared for and get through, so at least people know to be ready for it. Doing it on any other day and surprising them with it is such a self-centered, inconsiderate dickhead move.

Always blows my mind how much we hear red-blooded patriots go on about "the troops," just to go and celebrate their patriotism by stressing the shit out of all the veterans in their neighborhood.

    Stop Complaining about Lemmy
  • You're all good, buddy! I get it. It's simply frustrations from seeing the same complaints over and over again building up. Just keep in mind that the complaints come from people who need help.

If you ever find someone asking a question that seems obvious to you, try not to worry about it and just give them the answer. Sooner or later, I hope it'll make this a much nicer place!

  • Stop Complaining about Lemmy
  • Hey, I'm right there with you. I remember when the internet was unapproachable, and when it demanded that you put the time in to figure it out. Hell, I'm excited about Lemmy and the fediverse, because I really hope to see a return to form of the old school internet where it wasn't just ruled by only a handful of companies, their shareholders, and their advertisers.

But, you have to keep in mind that it hasn't been that way for a long, long time now. There are a lot of people now who are full-grown adults and have lived their entire lives never experiencing that kind of thing. They've only ever dealt with the most gentle user experience possible, because that's what the internet grew into. I mean..of course it did! Why wouldn't you want your service to be easy to use for anyone who might use it?

On the other hand, I still remember when the internet was exclusively a "nerd" thing, almost explicitly because it used to be so difficult to approach that you had to be a total no-lifer to figure out how to access it in the first place. I don't want that either.

You simply have to understand that not everyone has the experience in dealing with difficult-to-approach technology that you might. The answer to that isn't to chastise or turn away, but to have understanding, have patience, and to do what you can to help them acclimate.

Don't be a jerk about it. Use that experience to be a guide and a helping hand
