Elon Musk’s new AI company is staffed entirely by men
  • Maybe he has been accused of racist and misogynistic behavior because he is racist and misogynistic. I sure as hell have seen him share antisemitic, transphobic, misogynistic, and racist content on his personal Twitter account. He offered to buy an employee a horse if she would sleep with him, for fuck's sake.

Glass ceilings are not made because a person is actually a victim of a smear campaign, they're made because a person wants to hold onto power without being held accountable for the shitty things they do.

Don't be an apologist for racists and sexists. You know why Musk is most comfortable around white men. It's because he's an insecure racist and sexist piece of shit.

  • A UI idea on how to merge boosting with up/downvote buttons into one unified voting system in a visual way
  • This is so cool and I love the visuals. Still waiting on my beta access to Artemis 🥲

  • About to start rolling out wave 2 of Artemis beta 👀
  • Frantically checking my email in hopes I'm finally in.

  • Kbin Usability Pack 0.3.6 - Mobile UI and compatibility with next Kbin version
  • I'm enjoying KUP on mobile but I'm not using the experimental mobile UI for a couple of reasons. The thumbnail previews automatically render as portrait even if the image itself is not, leading to a lot of wasted space. In fact I'd love an ultra compact option for KUP to further condense things, as there's a lot of whitespace. The images/icons for going to the comment section and boosting are very nice, but they do take up more space than just the text. I used RiF for reddit partly because of how condensed and clean it looked even with thumbnails.

Also it would be lovely if you could add a quick reply button under the article text when you click on an article, as right now I need to scroll down through all the comments to get to the Add Comment box, and of course having infinite comment scroll on can make that a bit of a chore. I'd argue that's perhaps something to be addressed on the site overall, but since @ernest is working pretty hard on the back end, sometimes you need things like KUP to help out on the front end for accessibility and minor QOL issues.

Fwiw I am using Firefox with tampermonkey on a Galaxy S22 Ultra.

  • Lemmy.world Admin Response to Defederation from Exploding Heads
  • Lmao thinking option 1 is actually viable tells me you don't understand the experience of being a member of a marginalized group and having to be the spokesperson and educator for every small-minded or even benevolently curious outsider. It is not the responsibility of the LGBTQ, Black, Indigenous, AAPI, Jewish, women, disabled, or any other community to educate racists. In fact, it's really fucking exhausting for people in these marginalized groups to explain for the billionth time why they deserve the same rights as cishet white Christian men, or that xyz term is hurtful, that George Soros and Bill Gates are not trying to depopulate the planet, etc.

These racists get an endorphin rush from bullying. You can go ahead and put a target on your back but I assure you, they know they're saying awful shit and they do not care about who it hurts because that's the point. You're not going to be able to dilute that content because you will burn out.

Letting them have their racist hellhole without giving them further visibility is absolutely fine. If they get a reputation for saying horrible shit, they'll only attract more horrible people, and then fewer horrible people will invade the spaces where everyone is respected.

Consider the paradox of tolerance as well. Defederating sends a clear message that hate speech is not permitted here.
