Un Dorian Gray sin pasado, ni patria ni bandera.

I'm just a guy in the #pnw who likes going on adventures, and playing games with friends.

Three things I love: the Oxford Comma, irony, and missed opportunities.

People without a family, how are you faring in life?
  • Well, this thread has strengthened my desire to adopt a teen from foster care. I technically have/had a family but they were more like roommates than parents. Left at 18 and never looked back. Had my share of lonely holidays that I would dread when they came around. I'm not trying to say I've had the same story as those here, but I get some parts of it really well. I'm finally at a place where maybe I can prevent that from happening to someone else.

  • New adventuring party just dropped
  • This is the first I'm hearing of this author, but seems like it: wiki

  • @pixelfed: Loops is a new platform for sharing short videos, and it's open source + federated Using #ActivityPub
  • I vaguely remember it being put on hold for some alignment with European privacy laws or something along those lines.

  • You're not alone. I tried reading them and the premise was something I could get behind but the way it was written drove me crazy. I agree that if they had a better translator to make it sound more native English, I probably would have been fine with it. Bit as it stands it sounded very Chinese still. I'm hoping the show will solve that problem for us.

  • Commuting across timezones
  • Yeah, given my druthers I'd rather summer time, but that seems unlikely happen any time soon. So honestly, I'll be happy if we no longer have to change clocks twice a year regardless of which we align with.

  • Oregon Senate just passed that bill. Here's hoping.

  • Americans, mostly women, are becoming more liberal: Gallup
  • That was my thought when they said X identified as conservative, Y liberal, the rest moderate or unsure.

How about none of the above since they're all right of center?

www.nwprogressive.org Oregon voters will soon get to decide whether to adopt ranked choice voting statewide

A victory for the RCV campaign in November 2024 would be a significant breakthrough for voting justice, as it would liberate voters in Oregon from being required to vote for just one candidate.

    Bridges on Matrix

I recently discovered that bridges exist on Matrix allowing you to communicate with others on different platforms.

I would love to make use of this, but I lack the technical abilities to spin up my own server… at least not without a step-by-step for noobs. Does anyone know of a server that's open to join that has bridges available to use? Or barring that some reasonably priced turnkey service? I saw one that was $22/mo for up to 50 users, but that seems a bit much for just me.
