Xperia announcenment launch May 15th 2024
  • Maybe I'm in a minority here, but one feature I seriously never want to give up from my Samsung is motion photos. I know they're silly but they capture sooooo many lovely moments with friends/family/pets.

  • "I'll Come Back": Ninth Doctor Actor Reveals Brutal Conditions For Doctor Who Return
  • He is my favorite Doctor and his series is tied with series 4 (Donna) as my favorite series of Who and i will die on that hill. I know I'm just one person but from my perspective, it seems like within the Who fandom most people at least like and respect Nine, and plenty of people do in fact really love him like I do. If he ever came back to the show onscreen in any capacity it would literally be the most hyped I've ever been for Doctor Who ever.

  • Best Buy to end DVD & Blu-ray disc sales
  • Also, I want to own the proper high quality version of my movies. There's such a noticeable difference between 4K streaming quality and 4K disc quality... if they stop making discs, there isn't any website where movies are sold at that uncompressed quality level digitally.

  • Have you ever felt a imaginary switch click that changed the trajectory of your life?
  • In high school and college, I used to be the kind of person who always overanalyzed everything with intense scrutiny, especially things related to dating/romance, and I felt like I was just a constant failure in that part of my life. I wasn't always single, I did have some relationships over the years, but during those relationships I remained the overanalytical type, always overly worried that something might be going wrong or that I said the wrong thing, replaying conversations in my head thinking of better ways to say things, etc. After one stretch of being single after semi-unwillingly breaking off an engagement (and continuing to be overanalytical), I was asked out by a new person and we started dating, and fell in love incredibly fast, and are now very happily married.

When she asked me out and we went on that first date and both realized how incredibly well we got along, something flipped in my brain, and I have literally never been the same since; that was 10 years ago, and I no longer overthink things at all, and it has been the greatest gift anyone could've given me.

  • Star Labs reveal their new StarLite, a Surface-like Linux tablet
  • I want to move but nothing else works for me.

Have you tried Storygraph? That's what I've switched to and it can do 99% of the functionality I used on Goodreads just as well, the only thing missing for me is a similar setup for grouping books into multiple custom-ordered lists, but that wasn't a critical feature for me.

  • 0.1.0 Release and app's name vote
  • I really like Fennec a lot, but are there concerns about other apps with the same name? Ultimately it's just a name, the app will still be the same app, but I do like how Fennec is a bit easier to say than Silverfox. Although, it's not like I'm talking about lemmy apps to people in person anyway 😅

Also, like the other commenter, I REALLY like the current logo so I definitely don't want that to go away, regardless of the app name.

EDIT: just saw the post about the Firefox fork. I guess you could go the route of "Fennec for Lemmy" if you kept Fennec? 🤷‍♂️

  • I love the new icon!!

Not much real substance to this but I really love the icon you chose in the new release!

Asus Zenfone 10 review: The best small smartphone gets even better
  • I still wish it had microSD but wireless charging is a nice plus over the Zenfone 9! Also would prefer a zoom lens vs a wide angle, but not as big a deal to me. Unfortunately I'm (hopefully) not going to be looking for an upgrade for a good few years since I just upgraded to the S23, but I'd seriously be considering this if I were still looking. Only hypothetical issue for me would be missing out on a lot of the extra features Samsung packs into OneUI and GoodLock...those software things that I interact with and need every time I use my phone are what ultimately convinced me to stick with Samsung (previously had an S10e) despite losing the jack and microSD :/
