/r/Conservative is going to save Reddit
  • I realized that Lemmy being slightly more difficult to get started would mean that the user base will be smaller, but fewer low-effort people would make the switch, so it's really a plus.

  • What's your favourite snack(s)?
  • The oatmeal bars will hold me over for a couple more hours if I get hungry, yeah. I use this recipe with the following modifications: no "extras", 1/3 less honey, 50% more protein powder; and I press them into a dish and cut them into servings that are the equivalent of 2.5 of her protein balls.

And I use that apple tip too! I use it, and if the answer to an apple is "yes," I just have the apple.

  • What’s everyone playing this weekend?
  • I did act 1 pretty thoroughly, then focused on the campaign and watched all the cutscenes. It was beautiful work by the developers. I got into nightmare dungeons this weekend. I might try to get past the t3 capstone dungeon tomorrow afternoon to push into the highest difficulty. I bet I could right now, but I read optimal leveling is no more than 3 levels above character level. I hit a nightmare dungeon that was 8 above me and wasn't at all impressed, so I'll just believe that and work with it. I'm having a great time though.

  • Comfort games?
  • Mine was Diablo 2 for the longest time. I could get my summon necromancer out and play fairly mindlessly. He'd have so many minions that nothing ever really hit me. He wasn't super overpowered, so he didn't kill fast, but it was a nice, lazy walkthrough kind of build. He did better in big open areas rather than corridors, so I'd play him in those even if that meant a lower chance of finding good gear.

  • What are you growing this season?
  • Corn, green beans, yellow onions, and lettuce. I also more than doubled my strawberry and raspberry plants.

I'm trying to overrun the rest of my back yard with either clover for walking paths or wildflowers for the wildlife.

My front yard is a little more tame with just a couple apple trees.

  • What is your favorite hobby for connecting with nature and why?
  • Photography. I like birds, amphibians, and insects. I upload with location data to iNaturalist, which crowd-sources biodiversity. To that end, I will go to several different sites in my area at different times of the year so that I can contribute a variety of species at a variety of locations.

If you're well-versed in identification, you can confirm species identification on the app too. I'm familiar with the calls of all the frogs in my area and will help identify frogs in recordings.

  • Biodiversity is so hot right now
  • My new patch of Midwest wildflowers is coming in. I had some grass sneak back in before the flowers started to grow, but it's getting overrun. I'm in the middle of a city, so my back yard is pretty small. This patch is about 25' x 20'. I have a more established one that is about 5' x 15'.

    And the established one

  • Sync for Reddit will shut down on June 30, 2023
  • This is the announcement that got me here. I'm going to spend a few more days simping for Lemmy and answering any questions I can as a novice end-used, and then I'll delete my 11yo Reddit account this weekend. I'm feeling really good about Lemmy right now though. Hopefully this has staying power for enough of us.

  • Diablo IV has been disappointing so far
  • I'm on PC and enjoying it so far as well (sitting out my first "server issues" ordeal right now though lol). I'm making myself stick with the bone necro I started with and plan to try something new each season. I'm enjoying it enough that I want to give myself that "new game" feeling several times over by saving classes and builds to try over the next several years. For now, I'm learning the mechanics and pushing this bone necro as far as I can. The end-game content options feel pretty solid so far. I'm only level 54 though, so there's lots of room to grow.
