Did the writers care about the ranks of their characters?
  • That too for LD, especially in later seasons, the main characters are much more interesting than the average ensign and get a lot more to do. For example, Rutherford was previously injured in a ship racing accident and wrote an insane AI program, Boimler has a "dead" transporter clone in Section 31, Mariner is the captain's daughter, and Tendi is from an Orion pirate family. Not only that but whatever they are doing that episode usually has some impact on the "main" plot, like how Rutherford ends up acting as a diplomat in one episode or how they attempt to steal the Cerritos.

  • What's a piece of fanon that you suspect the writers believe? OR, What's a piece of fanon that has been recently (ish) canonized?
  • The warp effect in Beyond is the warp effect for the Alcubierre drive. Seeing as it's basically the only plausible way to have an FTL system I'm fine with treating it that way since the ship practically moves at the speed of the plot so how it actually moves doesn't really matter

  • I feel like some of the writers finally came around- for example In Discovery S3 the emerald chain wants to co opt the name of the Federation because the Federation is still viewed very highly.

I also appreciate that we see the motivation behind being a badmiral

  • Why do people host Lemmy instances and how do they pay for them?
  • One other thing I don’t see people pointing out is that Lemmy is basically a successor to classic web forums, so companies may run their own so they can have full control over the experience and moderation like for movies, series’s, or games, and in which case they would be more than happy to eat the cost of hosting. For example there could be a Lemmy.Disney.com instance to act as a Disney sanctioned discussion zone for their products where they could put tons of moderation rules in place.
