YSK: You can use wefwef.app (Voyager) to import your subreddits
  • Same. I’m ‘all-in’ when it comes to Lemmy, but I only subscribed to a dozen subreddits I remember enjoying, and that’s it. Now I simply either sub to a new Com when I stumble upon it, or search for it after remembering a specific subreddit.

    I’d rather leave Apollo/Reddit behind 🤷‍♂️

  • Do you struggle to keep your house tidy?
  • I wonder the same thing. All the kids stuff has their place, so everything can be put back into place, but I imagine that has to be done before cleaners come in as they don’t know where stuff is supposed to go (or they clean around it? ..which would be super half-assed)?

  • Sunday-morning records
    • Norah Jones - Feels Like Home
    • Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home
    • CSN - Deja Vu

Sometimes a Joni Mitchell, but I have a love/hate relationship with all here music, so 🤷‍♂️

  • Sunday-morning records

What records are your go-to’s for (rainy/sunny) Sunday mornings?

Welcome to the official community for Voyager (formerly wefwef)!
  • Implement this as a Settings toggle, presumably?

  • Is it normal to be constantly afraid of government?
  • Gross generalization, but point taken.

  • Is it normal to be constantly afraid of government?
  • With all due respect, countering a sentiment with “but look how bad these people have it” or “it could always be worse” is rarely (if ever) helpful.

  • Insurance in US
  • Apparently it is still upheld at the state level in 5 states.

  • Insurance in US
    1. Yes, however it’s usually a little more expensive to get the same coverage, as the employer pays a part of employee’s insurance costs.
    2. Forfeit? No, they’ll still need insurance (you get a fine if you’re without insurance for more than 3 out of 12 months (at least, I think that was the case)).

  • Is it normal to be in shock about landing my dream career as a software developer?
  • A little bit, absolutely! Not to be too cynical but eventually this feeling will wane a bit. 7yrs in I still think I have a cool/chill job (dev)—and comparatively I make “good” money—but it’s still a job; I don’t code in my free time anymore. Once I’m done for the day I’d rather not look at a screen any more.

    This all said, congrats!!

  • Is 22 too old to start studying computer science?
  • Waaay too old..

Of course not, dude. I switched careers from music to software dev at 28 without any formal education (now 7yrs later a senior dev).

  • Where are some good places online to reliably find a job?
  • I relied entirely on linkedin for my most reason job switch. Make sure to set up a few alerts for search queries (/job titles) and apply as quickly as you can (it is a little stressful, I agree).

When job openings have the ‘easy apply’ thing, don’t bother and simply move on (I’ve NEVER had a meaningful response to any of these). Also, don’t bother if an opening already has more than 25 applicants (unless your resume is outstanding).

Indeed seemed to have nosedived in the last few years; monsterboard was never a success for me either. For me linkedin has been the only meaningful portal. Hang in there!

  • Italy to bar soccer players from wearing No. 88, which has coded meaning
  • Generally they don’t, which makes it more ‘intentional’ when they do. Usually the numbers are <30.

  • Pressing colorful record
  • This is @waxworkrecords on instagram, super satisfying account to follow 🙌
