Elon has gone on record saying he's a huge sci-fi fan, and has mentioned Iain M Banks in particular who writes a lot of posthuman and transhuman characters. He's literally pulling his ideas directly from fiction.
I agree, there would have to be measures in place to prevent the "promote to the level of incompetence" style of meritocracy that is prevalent already. There needs to be a system of recognizing that the person in any given position has the skills and abilities that make them awesome at that specific job, and rewarding them appropriately without requiring them to justify it by taking on tasks that they're not suited for.
The idea that workers should always be gunning for a promotion is one of the worst parts of what people think a meritocracy is. But how else do you determine how much they should be paid?
If I age a quarter as well as she has I'll be so happy. Goals for sure.
I'm sure many (American) people think Hugh Laurie is like House in real life too 😂
He does have pretty flawless porcelain skin. 🤔
Accidental Renaissance?
Well that sucks, I just paid for a full year. Was this announced beforehand or did they disappear with no warning? What else are they going to drop?
My grandma gave him this bed, and he's actually using it!
I was going to guess reusable diaper, but I guess not.
She could be B though
Do you do the same routine every day? I've been interested in trying this but I don't know where to start.
Thanks for the link, that sounds like exactly what I was asking for but gone way wrong!
What do you think is missing to prevent these kinds of outcomes? Is AI simply incapable of categorizing topics as 'harmful to humans' on it's own without a human's explicit guidance? It seems like the philosophical nuances of things like consent or dependence or death would be difficult for a machine to learn if it isn't itself sensitive to them. How do you train empathy in something so inherently unlike us?
Every time I'm using someone else's tech and I see ads I actually quite enjoy them in a nostalgic way. I kind of miss the days when I used to know all the jingles for all the pizza chains and furniture stores in my area.
