  • News aggregation option?

Hi friends! Is there a good alternative to a news + feeds aggregator such as Feedly? I need to monitor some RSS feeds and other sources such as blogs and websites. I tried installing feedpushr but it already struggled with importing some RSS feeds and doesn't do other sources, so I think I need something more flexible/powerful.

Interested in a solarpunk book club?
  • Sounds like a great idea, I was kind of looking for something like that here on lemmy though. Not sure if it would make sense to discuss books in the comments, or if that is a bad format for that.

  • What Are You Working On?
  • So far I only have peppermint, gotu kola, strawberry (apparently you can use the leaves as well) and lavender. But I want to add more local plants, such as lemon balm. I'll add some dried apple skin as well for more flavor. For the home server so far I only run jellyfin but I just got started recently. I am using Obsidian for note taking and such, I am pondering to host that myself as well and make it sync. What are you running on yours? I am still looking for ideas :)

  • What Are You Working On?
  • I am also interested in sewing. Sometimes I buy second hand stuff online and then it doesn't quite fit. If you can just change it yourself that would be awesome. Or just make your own from scratch. But I don't have a sewing machine and don't want to buy one because I am not sure I will stick with it.

  • What Are You Working On?
  • With limited space I am growing some plants on my balcony. Decided to harvest and dry the herbs so I have supply during the winter. I want to make my own herb tea blend as well, let's see how that goes. Also decided to get of the streaming sites and have my own server at home. I calculated the energy price and it will be cheaper for me. This at least saves energy during streaming because traffic doesn't go through 10 routers on the way to my device. And I am on a renewable energy plan.

  • To worm farm or not to worm farm?
  • Wow thanks so much! You are making me reconsider now :) I am also in Germany and was worried about the winter. Another thing I was wondering about with bokashi, since it ferments instead of composting, don't you end up with leftover ermented scraps in the end? And need to throw those away?

  • What are some simple ways to live a solarpunk life?
  • I randomly stumbled upon something called "Solidary agriculture" yesterday. People come together, pay a monthly price to keep a farm running. This makes the farm independent from draughts, bad harvests etc. In return for the money you get fresh produce throughout the year, no price fluctuations, you always get what was produced. Sometimes more sometimes less. If this isn't Solarpunk I don't know what is. It's pretty easy as well, provided there is an initiative like that in your area.

  • To worm farm or not to worm farm?

Hi Punks! I am wondering what would be the best option to do some eco waste recycling at home? I am living in a small flat and have a balcony where I am trying to grow some veggies and herbs. Lately I am getting targeted apps about worm farms that you can have either in your flat (because apparently they don't smell?) Or on a balcony. Does anyone have experience with this? Or does it make more sense to simply compost? I think you can use bokashi as well to compost that has some microorganisms? I am wondering what would be the best option smell wise and suitable for smaller amounts of waste and space. If anybody has some experience to share I'd be grateful :)
