What’s the most overhyped tech trend right now?
  • I feel the same. I think they got to a point where there's nothing else left to improve, no interesting features to add.

The only feature I am really looking forward to is the return of removable batteries.

  • Who needs Skynet
  • Careful! Last time I sarcastically posted a stupid AI idea, within minutes a bunch of venture capitalists tracked me down, broke down my door and threw money at me non stop for hours.

  • Truly.
  • I heard they are always trembling because they are too small to retain their body heat. And they are aggressive because everyone else is too big and scary.

These poor dogs literally spend most of their lives cold and terrified.

  • It's Time to Bring Back the Steam Machine
  • There are some modders experimenting with eGPUs on the Deck, but it's really impractical. The Deck USB-C connector isn't powerful enough to handle an external GPU and the OS doesn't support it.

Valve would need to release new hardware for it to be feasible.

  • From my experience working for a management consulting firm. It's more like everyone knows what the problems are and how to fix them, but they are too scared of screwing up to do something about it.

So they hire a consultancy company to tell them what they already knew and take the blame if something goes wrong.

  • Definitely capitalism. These companies are under constant pressure from shareholders to increase profits year over year.

Once they can't increase profits by growing the market share anymore, they increase it by making their products shittier.

  • I get the feeling their hardware quality is dropping fast. The old stuff was great.

My old MX Anywhere 2 survived four years of abuse before getting the double click issue, I've been using my G533 headset almost every day for five years now and it's still going strong, but the "top of the line" mouse I bought two years ago is already dead.
