Just got Sammi home - it's like she's back to normal. She actually scarfed Zooki's roo mince which she wasn't supposed to have, inhaled the Hills vet food that she was, used the tray and is walking around reacquainting herself with the place.
If you saw her Wednesday and then today, the only difference in her is the shaved spot where they took the bloods. Oh and no purrs - I might be on her shit list for awhile.
Anyway ultrasound Wednesday, they're going to let me know what time.
Vet just called - as before, nothing detected in the external examination and nothing in the blood tests. They're going to x-ray her and if nothing shows up on that, organise an ultrasound. Also they'll give her fluids and an anti nausea injection since she has been vomiting on and off since Thursday.
Any improvement Sammi had was minimal, so I phoned the vet and they've admitted her for observation and further tests (including hopefully an abdominal ultrasound).
Cross fingers for us.

Sammi woke me at 4:00 for snuggles and purrs. Not exactly complaining, given the circumstances.
She requested breakfast a little later, and after a little trial and error, chicken creamy treats seem to be the way to go.
Still going to take her back for a follow up with the senior vet as soon as I can, but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was yesterday.

Since the majority were wild guesses and I'm operating on too much stress and not enough sleep, not bad!
Good news (she said cautiously) after being very wobbly and actually wanting food but refusing everything, Sammi actually got back on the bed and had a nap, then after giving me some purrs and snuggles, she was much steadier when she got down and ate with appetite. Not the normal amount but she gave it a good go.
I'm much more hopeful now - earlier on I thought I was going to have to phone the vet tomorrow and have the 'is it time?' talk.

Oh damn. She just threw up and she's refusing breakfast.
Well she's still alive.
And she hasn't thrown up.
But she's definitely not her snuggly purry self. 🙁
Well that was what she said. I presume she's talking about cats that don't have hyperthyroidism.
Back home - blood tests showed nothing abnormal except for higher thyroid which is unusual in a senior cat. They gave us some fluids and that seems to have helped - when I got her home she went straight for the old food that Zooks hadn't finished and then scarfed down the fresh stuff I gave her three mouthfuls at a time - didn't finish it all but spread over three saucers probably a full saucer. So fingers crossed.
Still here: they were running behind because of an emergency.
Nothing obvious but they're concerned that she's dropped half a kilo since her last visit. Waiting on some blood results as I type.
Off the booze until tomorrow due to antibiotics. Have one for me.
