Rumors of a secret meeting under NDA between big Fediverse instance admins and Meta
  • Okay, but this is the problem the fediverse was created to solve. If someone starts doing dumb things, we just defederate from them. No need to freak out about it.

The only thing this does, IMO, is highlight the need for easy instance migration, just in case the one doing dumb things is your own instance owner.

  • Is there an ActivityPub-compliant way to get a list of communities on an instance?

I'm exploring the ActivityPub protocol, trying to get familiar with it. When I query the "lemmy.ml" root (as an example) the outbox is listed as "https://lemmy.ml//site_outbox", which doesn't exist. But querying "https://lemmy.ml/site_outbox", which does exist, just gets me an empty list.

I know there's a way to get a list of communities from "https://lemmy.ml/api/v3/community/list", but that's using Lemmy's own custom API, not ActivityPub.

    Lemmy is booming
  • Even if not, it should be fairly simple to make an extension or userscript that does it. All the necessary data is already on the page. If Lemmy really does blow up I'm sure we'll get something like RES that gives us more frontend customization options.
