Is this sub related to privacytools.io?
  • Oh, I see. I thought they were just ill-conceived recommendations, but they're in fact bad recommendations with nefarious motives. This kind of stuff is really bad for people just getting into actively protecting their privacy......

  • Is this sub related to privacytools.io?
  • It's definitely a "he said, she said" type of situation, but I found privacytools.io to be recommending some questionable services and companies (Nord VPN, ExpressVPN, etc). privacytools.io also pushes ads for certain companies, some of which are included in their recommendations. I just trust PG more because their selection process (slow as it may seem) is a lot more transparent and thorough.

  • Is it normal to see random new posts get loaded on to the front page even when sorting is set as "Active" or "Top Day"?

Hello, fresh new Lemmy user and first-time poster here.

Even when I set the front page to sort "Active" or "Top Day", I keep seeing fresh new posts pop up on my front page (see image).

This happens whether I limit the front page to "Local" or widen it to "All". This also happens across different Lemmy instances, not just Lemmy.world.

Is this a normal thing and supposed to happen?

I don't know if I'm being overly sensitive, but tbh this is sort of annoying....
