  • As far as I can tell, mostly just fantasy tropes and the poem by Percy Shelley, a personal favorite

I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Trump and Harris agree on “no tax on tips.” They’re both wrong.
  • Income tax can be set up as a progressive taxation system, but sales tax, even with an added luxury tax is inherently regressive because poor people spend more of their money as a proportion of their income.

  • Just to preface things, I was being facetious and hyperbolic, I dont think it'll actually be >1%, more likely 3-4%. In a general sense I completely agree with you about the EC but I meant the popular vote margin rather than the EC margin which tends to be significantly broader because of the less granular, more binary structure of the system. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_elections_by_popular_vote_margin

  • Zachariah's saying that empiricism, cricical thinking, and scientific reasoning are seen as dangerous by people whose worldviews are based on faith rather than reality because questioning traditional and baseless narratives about the world causes cognitive dissonance. I think that the people who find it most dangerous are those in positions of power on the basis of those narratives who don't want their followers or supporters to stop believing.
