what budget 3d printer would you suggest for a beginner?
  • Just adding onto this as someone who got an ender 3 V2. This comment rings so true because I tried and tried to get the printer to work how I wanted for months before I just gave up. Flash forward almost 2 years and I got a much nicer but not crazy (~$400 if I recall) and it's such a night and day difference. I actually quite enjoy printing now, whereas I just kinda thought it wasn't for me with my first printer. Turns out cheap tools really do give cheap results

  • Hey just a question, I've been dabbling in Linux for a bit now, but honestly a huge deal breaker for me is not having applications with at least near feature parity with ShareX and Everything. There seems to be plenty of screen shot apps but they seem to be clunky in comparison, while I have yet to see a reliable gif capturing tool. Meanwhile, Everything can search my computer in a few milliseconds without issue but I haven't gotten close to that on Linux.

Was wondering if you might know of similar programs on Linux since you seem more familiar with it than me

  • What kind of companion uses have you found now that they are all semi-immortal?
  • Never changed for me, Smeeta is still Smeeta, just now I don't have to get the bleed out timer super high

  • Admittedly I was inferring from the comment that the servers don't work on Linux, specifically because of the example I used (payday 2) where that IS the case because of the switch to Epic's servers a few months ago

  • Epic Bans Rocket League Item Trading, Community Calls for Boycott as Thousands Sign Petition
  • I'm pretty sure this is because Epic servers don't support Linux, payday 2 ran into this recently where Linux just no longer works. Epic is such a shit stain on the games industry

  • Kroger introducing AI at self checkout to lower both accidental and organized crime theft.
  • Genuinely speaking, I'll gladly wait a significant amount of time longer just to do self check. The worst is at Publix (I think they are just in the south eastern US) where I have to avoid eye contact so they don't wave me into a normal checkout area

  • Blizzard bans 250,000 Overwatch 2 cheaters, says its AI that analyses voice chat is warning naughty players and can often 'correct negative behaviour immediately'
  • According to steam charts, it averages about 26,000 players per day on steam, not that many but I imagine across all platforms it probably has 250,000 players that play semi regularly. Granted by those assumptions they just banned the whole player base

  • About electric vehicle. If you add the maintenance cost for battery, how does it fair compare to gasoline vehicle? On cost we have to pay.
  • At least in Georgia, I actually pay more in "gas tax" by owning an EV because I just don't drive enough but the yearly cost doesn't reflect miles driven

  • Germany Will Force 80% of Gas Stations to Install EV Charging, Too
  • It probably just depends on the location then cause I charged my ev6 at 2 different Sheetz on a trip I had a couple weeks ago.

  • the 4080 is right about on par

Adjusted for inflation in the US, the 1080 ti cost only $876 in today's money when it came out. The 4080 launched at $1231 in today's money. You are simply incorrect

  • Hello, World!
  • Yeah it was a bit annoying at first, but I just created a "all" user that just subbed to everything (well not everything, shout-out to all the communities that speak another language). I don't recall exact links but if you just search for "all bot Lemmy" there are some stuff people have made which will just auto join basically all communities in an instance

  • What inaccurate historical factoid do you just go with?
  • Murica obviously, no other place exists

  • redditors and their their bots draw this in r/place, badmins respond by ending it, this naturally makes a lot of ppl very mad
  • As much as I'm on the fuck reddit train, I'm pretty sure it was already ending as this happened
