Is the hearing aid feature for AirPods Pro 2 only available in USA and Canada?
  • A law was passed two years ago to allow certain types of OTC hearing aids. From the FDA’s website

To increase the public’s access to hearing aids and improve hearing, the FDA established a new category of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids for adults 18 years of age and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss that went into effect on October 17, 2022.

  • [Kind of weekly thread] What movies or shows have you watched this week?
  • Denzel Washington is a good actor and that’s the only reason I watched the movies. I like the way he speaks and portrays his characters. As an action/crime drama, it’s mediocre. He’s too old to get physical so he’s scripted as a super spy. Extremely intelligent, he can use tech to track down the bad guys. In hand-to-hand combat, he anticipates every move, parries every punch, hits every pressure point to immobilize the enemy, and never misses a shot. Definitely not Bourne-level fisticuffs. Nevertheless, it’s still a fun watch.

  • South Korea finds mothers were forced to give up babies for adoption abroad
  • SK was a very different country 75 years ago. The land and economy were decimated by wars. Their government and social structure was extremely authoritarian and patriarchal. It’s no surprise that unwed mothers would be ostracized by society.

  • Is it really just ageing/ getting older? How is this supposed to work? How is everyone else doing this?
  • As others have responded, your joint pains are not normal. Yes, I had joint and muscle pains in my 20s, but it was always obvious how I got them and they eventually healed after several days.

When I was 55, my fingers started swelling and I was unable to perform simple tasks. My doctor ordered a series of blood tests, CBC (Complete Blood Count), CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel), Rheumatoid factor, Lyme disease (there are 2 tests for this), plus others that I can’t recall off the top of my head. I was eventually diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

You should find a doctor who won’t ignore your symptoms.

  • In his attacks on the ‘childless’ left, JD Vance once hyped a plan to give parents more votes
  • Since I’m considered less invested in the community if I don’t have children, I shouldn’t have to pay property taxes, since that money is used to fund public schools. And whatever federal portion of the budget that goes toward public education should be given back to me as well.

Also, does a parent’s extra vote go away when the children reach voting age?

Edit: The more I think about this, the more I like it. I think you’re on the right track, but we need to take this further. You have a greater stake, therefore you should have a larger tax burden as well. You and your family will use more resources than a single person. Roads wear out faster from more driving and increased weight of vehicle. Larger families require larger police and fire departments. Etc., etc. Good idea.

  • Focaccia fail - TIL fresh garlic kills yeast
  • Yes, learned now that we could’ve sautéed the garlic in olive oil or butter and then spread that mixture on top of the dough just prior to baking.

It was edible and we ate half of it but the oily texture became a turn off after awhile.

  • Focaccia fail - TIL fresh garlic kills yeast

My daughter tried to make garlic focaccia and mixed fresh garlic into the dough instead of topping it. Ended up with an oily thick cracker.

How do I fix a floating floor?
  • There are YouTube videos that will show you the basics, like this one, https://youtu.be/kW6-QEPOjVE?si=eZMJf09J-m1o1qq2

Since you don’t have much space to work with, cut a smaller piece of 2x4, about 4” long, and screw it to the top of the longer piece of wood, at the end. Hammer the top piece to shift the plank.

  • Z6 III
  • When I had a DX camera, I sometimes felt a 35mm lens was too tight for urban photography and I didn’t have anything shorter. My Z6 with the 24-70mm is perfect. And the larger pixels on a full frame will give you better dynamic range.

Are you pre-ordering or waiting for Black Friday sale?

  • Z6 III
  • It depends on what you need. 24Mp is plenty for my needs and higher pixel count than d500. The Z6 III is slightly smaller and lighter. Definitely an upgrade in all features.

Are all your lenses DX format? If so, you’ll need to get new lenses as well.

    www.nikonusa.com Nikon Z6III | Cameras | Nikon USA

The Nikon Z6III is a 24.5MP full-frame mirrorless camera with powerful AF and subject detection, 6K/60p video and 240fps slow motion recording and much more.

What do you think about the new Z6 III features? The pre-release capture looks really interesting. I use Live Photos on my iPhone every so often to reselect the key photo. It doesn’t look like there’s an option to create gifs in camera from the pre-release capture photos. But I bet third party apps should be available.
