Vessel - Climbable sculpture in Hudson Yards closed in 2021 after four people died by suicide
  • I would argue there are limits. An art piece being used as a suicide booth falls into the category of not being essential enough that it must remain openly accessible to the public. A bridge or train tracks being used for suicide should not be closed off.

  • Glock pistols popular among US criminals because they're easily modified, report says.
  • They have a trigger safety. It looks almost like a tiny trigger within the trigger. Essentially means that it will only fire if you pull the trigger. It makes sense for trained personnel since they won't be pulling the trigger unless they intend to fire and mistakenly leaving a safety on when you need to shoot can get you killed. Still seems very sketchy to me even though I understand that logically, it's just as safe.

  • Holocaust revisionism is running through the mainstream of the MAGA movement
  • I've always heard the figure being 12 million total. I actually saw an older piece of material recently that mentioned the total as being 11 million.i agree that saying Jews were a majority is incorrect and misleading but I don't think it's intentional misinformation. It was the largest individual group.

  • For health reasons.
  • This whole thread is very pedantic but in chemistry when someone refers to chlorine, they are usually referring to Cl2. I think in IUPAC naming chloride is reserved for for ions. Like dichloromethane (IUPAC) and methylene chloride (also common name).

  • AIPAC Officially Surpasses $100 Million in Spending on 2024 Elections
  • Yes it is the money but more so the effect. They will give so much money to your opponent that you can't win. We need campaign finance reform in order to get anything done. Big money holds this country hostage.

  • Grenades of the First World War
  • It's missing the US Mk 1. From the wiki:

In 1917, the Mk 1 grenade was created.

However, it became apparent that the Mk 1 grenade was quite difficult to use in the field. The grenades were often not ignited properly before being thrown, and enemies would return the grenade, this time properly lit.

  • Google threatened tech influencers unless they ‘preferred’ the Pixel
  • Interesting. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I'm not a fan of the bump on the naked phone but I also have a Spigen case and actually appreciate the bump.

The Pixel 8 is a little big in my hands so with a secure grip, to me being fingers on one edge pressing the phone into my palm, I can't reach the full screen. It's also uncomfortable to hold it that way for long periods. So often I have the phone with my fingers on the back and my pointer touches the bump, keeping it from sliding, even at steep angles. I don't find the corners harsh but maybe they have worn down somewhat so they are no longer as sharp?
