Old guy but told I'm cool IRL. I've been a Liberal most of my life. However, recent political events have disturbed me so much, that I realized only conservatives have a reasonable plan politically. Gender and Identity politics are the fuel that convinced me that Liberals are becoming totalitarian.
If Parliament is “we the people” and they vote to make decisions on every aspect of governance as your representative, how come them electing the Prime Minister is so offensive to you?
You're not paying attention. Where did I say that parliament electing the PM is offensive to me? What I am saying that the PM being appointed by non-elected members of the LPC is offensive to me. It's not parliament doing it, but the Liberal Party of Canada members voting for their next leader of the party, which is then automatically the PM. Helluva difference.
Parliament is elected, so of course they represent 'we the people'.
That's often NOT the case. Executives are looking at their share price each quarter. It's rarely about the 'health' of the corporation.
I sincerely believe that a country's leader should always be elected and not appointed, regardless of the outcome of an election. The LPC isn't 'we the people'. 🤷♂️

Couldn't find a Toronto sub.
I am annoyed by the LPC's prorogue of parliament (Trudeau). If Carney wins, we'll have an unelected PM of Canada, which seems to be the most likely outcome.
😉 You folks have a funny accent, you should take New Scotland, New Brunswick, NFLD and Labrador because they talk funny too. (jkg of course)
This is what my issue was to — unfortunately, I didn't see this post before removing Jellyfin server. Couldn't find this in the official help docs - so someone might want to add this to the help and quick-start guides.
Those who stand up for just social and economic causes have long faced repression by the Canadian state. In this moment, the struggle for Palestinian liberation is the most unifying cause for people who want to build a better world. For this reason, it is no surprise that anti-genocide activists lik...

Turkish and Iranian media have reported on Engler's arrest, as has the UK-based channel Middle East Eye and the online legal news service Jurist News. However, no mainstream Canadian media have reported on Engler's arrest, and next to no Canadian politicians have condemned his jailing.

It would be difficult to fire thousands of people if one wasn't a sociopath, methinks.
I'm an experienced user, I know what I'm doing. I've been using GNU/Linux since '96.
No, I tried everyway with complete paths, I used that as one example. The software is a POS.
I've set the paths properly and explicit. This is on Debian Stable. Uninstalled, not going to waste anymore time on this.

Oh, that's interesting.
Yeah tried that. It doesn't even recognize standard paths like ~/user directory
Jobs was a salesman, Woz the engineering brain.
Jobs was just as sociopathic as Musk. You have to be to lead any corporation that relies on profit and is public. People that worked closely with Jobs often said he was an arehle and didn't care about people's feelings.
Obviously not an authorized bio. lOL
I have my media files in specific folders on a RAID5. It won't take that as a valid path, nor even anything in the ~/ directory. If I use the server root, it will. I don't like that - seems like a poor system design. No way I want it to scan my root directory. Christ it will take forever to scan my entire RAID of 200Tb.
Hey even us 'soft' Torontonians had windchill at that temp several times this season. And snow, helluva lot this year too, almost like Buffalo. 😂
OK I've installed Jellyfin server. However when setting up my media directories via the web front end, Jellyfin keeps telling me they're not valid paths. Don't know why that would be as they're directly on the server and valid. Checked permissions too, and restarted the server. Any ideas? I haven't rebooted the server, that's shouldn't be required.
That would be cool, especially California, then we'd have somewhere warm to visit. LOL

Mark Carney already cost Chrystia Freeland one job. She's on track to let him do it again. Will she turn things around?

Michel Remper opines on why she believes Freeland will lose the Liberal Party of Canada's leadership bid.
