Jewelry is lovely (if she likes jewelry and it is suited to her taste), but the notes would be so memorable and personal. The most memorable gift my husband ever gave me was radishes — so perfect, and suited exactly to me. We’ve been married 10 years, and he is still just as thoughtful, but that’s a hard one to beat. (They were a heritage variety, and so so good!) If it’s personal and given with love, it’s hard to go wrong.
For me, Libby, mostly for audiobooks. For my young kids, we check out physical books, and sometimes go to kids’ events. I find the children’s librarians have very helpful recommendations. I also like to go with a laptop sometimes to get work done, as it’s less distracting than being home. I always mean to check out museum passes, but often they’re out by the time I think to check. I am also fortunate to be in a city where I can get free access as a resident to some of the major museums, so it hasn’t been as critical.
