First fixie? Should I buy new or build?

Howdy,

Looking to acquire my first fixie after riding gears for some time. I’ve started out looking local via apps like Craigs and Nextdoor but didn’t find much in terms of fixie.

They do seem to have lots of parts available if I were inclined to build my own, but I have never done this and would prefer to start out with a complete build until I am comfortable.

Should I look to purchase my first fixie online or at a local shop? This would be used primarily for commuting and small store runs to local shops.

Looking forward to your inputs

In dissent, 9th Circuit say homelessness is 'paralyzing local communities' in West
  • I believe that the center of the issue is their understanding (or lack there of) how one can become homeless. If you understand that our society has failed these people (either through housing crisis, rising inflation, cost of medical care, lack of mental health care, etc) then you’ll want to enact the proper programs or try and fix the issues which are exacerbating it. If, however, you believe that the problems are the people themselves (either though laziness, addiction, lack of drive, etc) then in your eyes any kind of ‘handout’ will only make the issue worse and the people will never seek the help they need.

Unfortunately those on the right tend to believe the latter half and have no interest in changing.

  • What are some of the best purchases of your life?
  • I loved mine but honestly it works ‘too well.’ I usually put an ice cube in my coffee just before I would drink it so it could cool down to a drinkable temperature otherwise it would be still be at brewing temperature 5+ hours later.

Euphorbia tirucalli or 'Sticks on Fire growing at this reserve.

This one was about 9 1/2’ ft tall. Crazy to also see these growing in abundance on the sides of the road in SoCal!
