What do you do with damaged drives?
  • I've seen a few artists online use dead electronics to make really amazing multimedia art! If you can't figure out a way to use it technically, maybe contact such kind of artist who could use the materials artistically?

    Remove account from search results?

I had an account on an instance that went down. Is there any way to easily request for it to be removed from search results, or is it just going to be stuck in perpetual existence forever on other instance caches?

    Can we defederate from hexbear.net?
  • Yeah, I came into this thread expecting to defend letting blahaj be federated with hexbear, but I'm left seeing a comment section being armwrestled by hexbear users, when this post should really be predominantly blahaj users weighing in on the pros and cons, and the impact of hexbear onto our instance.

  • Binding & dysphoria
  • I've thought about it. I have concerns about the safety aspect of it though, especially since my lungs aren't great in general.

  • CBZ File Guide
  • If you use an ereader, KCC can convert your folder of jpegs into an e-ink optimized cbz.

  • Binding & dysphoria

Does anyone else feel like binding just makes you more dysphoric? Binding makes me more conscious of my chest, which generates more of the bad thoughts... am I approaching binding wrong?

    outage?
  • Yeah, the devs have been talking on the discord, there's some issues with the hoster atm that's beyond their control unfortunately.

  • What e-reader do you use? Which do you want?
  • Kobo Libra 2. I like the form factor and USB-C. Only thing missing is TTS support and letting me borrow audiobooks from Overdrive.

  • kbin.social
  • honestly, I've never seen anything bad from kbin. only very positive. lemmy.world though... understandably most of it is all right, so I don't think defederating is the call. specific communities with moderation issues can be blocked by users. the instances as a whole are mostly all right.

  • Do you still use fanfiction.net or are you all in on Archive of Our Own
  • Almost everything is on Ao3 now for me. It's just ridiculously easy to read how I want, organize my fics, etc and of course very easy posting. I'll go on FFN when I run out of fic for a fandom on Ao3 though. There are a few gems that haven't been crossposted, so I go fight against FFN's cloudflare to download them with FanFicFare lol.
