Beserker or Champion in 2024
  • Which level(s) will you be playing at? I personally prefer the Barbarian class's flavor over the Fighter, but depending on level, you'll get more attacks and ASIs as a Fighter.

Overall, I'd say a Champion Fighter would be more straightforward, but a Berserker Barbarian would be more fun to play.

  • [OTC] Vihaan, Goldwaker (Most Wanted)
  • Ah, that's a good comparison! I don't agree with the original comment - I think outlaws has a fun flavor, and I doubt they're going to be using that keyword outside of these sets. I might have an issue if they did.

To your point, historic never resonated with my, though I see what they were trying to do with it.

  • Anybody on Lemmy still playing?
  • Gotcha. I think people normally use dpad over the joystick on pad, but I was having issues with inputs (especially dragon punch) so I switched.

And exactly - diagonal input on leverless is two buttons pressed simultaneously. I recommend one, but they can be pricey. If you're interested, I used my keyboard to (shittily) simulate leverless so I could try it out. I used w - left, e - down, r - right, space - up and then 8 attack buttons mapped for the right hand. It's definitely a change, though!

  • Anybody on Lemmy still playing?
  • I'm playing a bit, but I really want to dedicate more time to the game. I picked up a leverless controller so I'm still getting used to the inputs and shortcuts.

Interesting that that your thumb is bothering you - are you using the dpad or stick on controller?

  • [Discussion] Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir (Spoilers)
  • There are dozens of us! I think the book is enjoyable if all you're expecting is a fun but shallow ride. If it's been hyped up, it's going to be disappointing. A lot of reviews treat it like the pinnacle of the genre, which is ridiculous.

  • 2024 Lineup
  • Honestly, that's great that you enjoy them! I think the negativity is the sets aren't self-contained. Once they're released, they're a part of magic and the eternal formats forever. Especially for those who have played for decades, that identity shift of the game is jarring.

  • 2024 Lineup
  • While I don't feel as negatively about these sets as the other poster, the attempt to be "flashy" strikes me the wrong way. Even though it's been years now, I feel the same was true for the sets you listed in your response.

I understand that they're trying to market to a broad audience and generate hype for cool new worlds / themes / crossovers, but I'd prefer if the sets were slower and we spent more time on each plane.

I realize this topic has been beaten to death and I have a bit of old man bias with this, but I'm not thrilled that trend is continuing.

  • Meet Ralph!
  • Wow wasn't expecting to see an Addie LaRue reference today! Who's to say that the thought of "Ralph" doesn't trigger thoughts or feelings in an individual that affects them later on today, later on this week, etc. I agree it's a beautiful sentiment.

P.S. That's probably my favorite book I've read in the last few years.
