Custom tabs allow Android apps to open websites in the app itself. If you disable it, when you tap on a link the page will open with your default browser instead of inside the app.
I think not having a headphone jack goes against their whole sustainability and repairability values. Wireless earbuds are just about the least repairable or sustainable electronics available, you'd think they would want to encourage the use of wired earbuds.
Love the new icons and I really love that the artist was compensated for his work.
Enjoying it so far, thankfully I had already been using Mastodon for about 6 months so I've had time to get used to the quirks and discoverability issues that come with the Fediverse. I hope the learning curve doesn't turn off less tech savvy users.
Hi everybody, another reddit refugee here. I'm liking the vibe of this place so far, reminds me of the early days of reddit before it got too full of trolls, bots, & spam. Some of My interests are tech, art, craft and diy hobbies, 3d printers, lgbt topics.
Just subscribed, looking forward to seeing everyone's projects
I was really looking forward to this show but now I'm not so sure...
Would love to see more car communities, unfortunately I don't expect the super niche car subreddits to move to lemmy unless it really blows up.
The focus is on Mastodon for sure, but lately it seems Mastodon is the Twitter alternative and Lemmy is now becoming the Reddit alternative so hopefully more attention will come to Lemmy.
It's sad but Reddit has been going downhill for a while now so I've been expecting this day to come soon. This is just the final change that pushed me over the edge after having an account for 14 years. All the big subreddits seem to now be full of spam, arguments, ads disguised as posts. I'll only really miss the smaller niche communities I follow, I'm not sure Lemmy will be able to fill that gap but we'll see.
