I had issues with the native nix package as well and I wasn’t running impermanence. I also needed to use the Flatpak Steam client. I eventually switched to the NixOS unstable channel and the native client is working fine with that.

@MustardCornbread, not sure about the path question, but there’s a configuration option to disable the sudo password:

security.sudo.wheelNeedsPassword = false;
