What's a skill that's taken for granted where you live, but is often missing in people moving there from abroad?
  • Rural Japan.

My kids (2 and 4) can use chopsticks already. Plenty of restaurants around here where you won't see a spoon, fork or knife. (However, it's certainly possible to ask the staff for western cutlery, and in the main cities they're more likely to be prepared for that question)

  • Now Kdenlive is my best friend
  • I used Blender as a video editor for a while. It worked really well. Very stable and the proxy system made editing on a low powered machine really nimble. I remember there was some project that offered a Blender setup geared specifically towards video editing. Can’t recall the name though. The Blender Velvets?!? That doesn’t sound right …

I also tried Olive many years back and thought it looked great but just wasn’t ready to push out ShotCut and KdenLive from my workflow. Glad they’re still working on it.

  • Gamers. What was the game that got you into the hobby?
  • For me it was more a system than an specific game. I got a second hand GameBoy when I was like 5 or 6 and have been gaming consistently since then. Probably the highlight of that period was Super Mario though.
