One NFL player lost $8 million from gambling
  • I love gambling! it makes it so much more fun to watch and it definitely incentivizes me to watch sports I don't care as much about. We don't need the government involved in victimless entertainment

  • Will there be another reddit-wide blackout?
  • I'm definitely disappointed that more people didn't stay away and especially all of the subs that didn't stay private but there's not a lot we can do about it. i think people are just way too addicted with getting their endless scroll of distraction and can't be bothered with a mild inconvenience. i cant say I'll never use reddit again because there's such a huge amount of great information there but I'm making an active choice to stay away especially for the next month so they can't count me for any of their precious metrics. But instead of worrying about reddit i think the focus should be on building up alternatives

  • Are you a professional or a hobbyist? How did you get your start in programming? What type of project/s are you working on currently?
  • I feel like more of a professional generalist than a programmer. I only have an associate degree, but had some programming / Access classes in college. Was a hobbyist Access / Excel / MySql developer while i was working the helpdesk (15 years ago). Then slowly got more access and opportunities at work, never said no and now I'm an ETL developer who also does some programming on legacy, web and dotnet.

  • Senate Republicans introduce plan to tackle student loan debt
  • nothing wrong with these ideas but they don't go very far in actually attacking the problem. i do definitely favor the idea of at least putting some work in lowering the cost of college before massive/universal forgiveness

  • This is Joe

One family ditched California for an Indiana town that offered them $5,000 cash, an unlimited golf membership, and coffee with the mayor
  • You guys are getting paid?!

i think is s good thing to incentivize people to move out of the huge cities. There are definitely good things about living in a non urban area but the politics of most of those places is just so horrible. And it's also kinda crazy to me how half the radio stations are some combination of right wing talk and Christian

  • In 2023 both an NBA team and an NHL team won the championship for the first time. I SENSE A TREND!

Would be nice if the NFL follows suit!
