Did you read the article? Clearly the people voting you up and me down didn't. Make something else up to get outraged about.
Non-binary people can experience sexism regardless of how they're born though. Your suggestion that just acknowledging that non-binary people exist without being disrespectful means research should be ignored is making the researcher's point for them.
I think the people fighting those issues "on the margins" are likely accomplishing more on the issues you claim are important too though? It's not either or. You don't have to choose to only care about one thing.
The conspiracy part of my mind thinks people saying things like you're saying just don't like trans people, but ultimately don't really care about Palestinian children or climate change either. I'll take people that actually fight for something.
What similar trash could they have talked to saying they wanted to hear if she screamed like a man or not? Is it possible transphobia is one of multiple motives for their murders? Because the transphobia is certainly there, and that's an explicit statement by one of the killers of their motives. Are we just ignoring that or explaining it away that they said it because it's talking trash? If that's the case why should we believe they just wanted to experience killing somebody? That's based on what they said too. Why believe one and not the other? Why is it so hard to believe they're transphobes, but not that they're murderers?
They may have multiple targets planned, but they only murdered one person. That person was trans, and the fact that they went so far as to call her "it" and expressed wanting to see if she screamed like a man suggests that was not a non-factor in their decision making. Anti-trans sentiment would be better combatted by drawing attention to it and calling it out when it happens. Not denying that it exists or that it is significant. Obviously their desire to kill someone may be a primary motivation. But transphobia was absolutely a secondary motivation, and it does a disservice to Brianna to deny that.
I didn't think they're anti-trans at all, and I didn't mean to suggest that they were. I just wanted to put a finer point on what they were saying regarding chromosomes. There are widespread misconceptions about trans health that it can be valuable to contradict, and some of that comment could potentially be misconstrued. Maybe it feels like nitpicking, but finer points are going to matter in the future as trans people's rights are under increasing assault on a legal front. It wasn't my intention to start an argument though. Please accept my apologies.
