Amazing, thank you so much! This gives me a great starting point. I love your creativity with the diaper-counting - there's so much cool stuff that tech can do, but I especially love when it's helping out with the mundane daily tasks!
Sounds perfect, thanks for the reccs!
Good point, I hadn't considered the UV light impact. Thanks for the Aqara Rex, will look into it.
Smart button available in NZ
Hi Kiwi friends!
Does anyone have recommendations for a wireless, battery-powered smart button available in NZ (or that ships to NZ)? I'd like to use it with Home Assistant to act as a doorbell.
I can see things like this online, but the "easy to use, free app!" is off-putting... I'm after a button that has minimal capability to spy on me, and that can be integrated with HA.
Any suggestions welcome - or if anyone has any better ideas on an alternative option, go for it! We can't get mains power or PoE where I want to put the doorbell.
This is how I feel when colleagues resign from my workplace... I'm sad that I'll miss their presence at work, but ultimately happy that they're expanding their careers and moving onto bigger things.
I enjoy lemon verbena tea! I have a plant in my garden and it's delicious. I also grew chamomile last year but the tea was very bitter so not my favourite.
Well, at least they used silane instead of PFAS.
Do I really need to print my Ticketek Ezy Ticket?!
I bought two tickets to a show from Ticketek (for Isaac Theatre in CHCH). It says in the email that I need to print them off but... do I reaaaally? Or can I just show them on my screen?
I'm really loving all these old-school-internet vibes, thanks for sharing! (Errors aside)
Agreed, and from the article, 3/4 of voters agree too! There's no reason why teeth should be treated so differently to the rest of healthcare.
Buddliah, ahaha, I know the pain! Thanks for the input, seems like stones are a good option.
My one concern is weeds... I'm hesitant to use weed mat but maybe it's worth it for this kind of long-term landscaping.
Very helpful, thank you! Sounds like you settled on the best solution; I'll take your learnings on board.
How to landscape a new build
Kia ora e te Lemmy whānau!
We've just moved into a new build, which hasn't been landscaped, and I'm at a loss for what to do immediately next to the external walls.
I've seen a few options around town, but I haven't found a good resource for actual recommendations. I've seen:
- river stones/gravel surrounding the foundation for ~30 cm
- plants against the walls (e.g. griselinia, lancewood
- driveway (concrete/asphalt)
I know I need to direct drainage away from the foundation, but can I plant grass (or similar plants) right next to the walls? Is there a standard rulebook I can refer to?
Any help would be appreciated!
Yummm that looks amazing. There's just something so special about sizzling the garlic and chilli in hot oil!
