@hitmyspot @dadsplain I think that is kind of what we've been doing. I didn't know it was a named method. We don't force her to finish her meals completely. She just needs some encouragement to improve the vegetable variety in her diet.
@threeduck @dadsplain That is still kind of my instinct, but my daughter's pickiness got to the point that it affected her health. Fortunately, we've made enough progress over the past few years that that problem is behind us. Now we're just working on variety. We're not forcing her to clean her plate. She just needs some encouragement and light pressure to figure out how to enjoy more than one type of vegetable.

It's crazy to me that a destructive photovoltaic solar project like this one is considered reasonable, but a new nuclear power plant within or adjacent to a city is beyond the pale.

Based on the mixed responses I'm getting, it is not an established stereotype that older people write emails and text messages poorly. If I knew it was then I wouldn't have asked if others had similar experiences to mine in the first place.
@RBWells @asklemmy I had a party at my house and both my mom and my friend, John, came over. They had a conversation in which he told her about a good website for shopping for airline tickets and he emailed her the link. Subsequently, she couldn't find the email, prompting her to ask me via the message I quoted. I didn't know they had that conversation and it seemed like my mom was saying she had actually gone to urgent care.

I just think there might be some kind of technological and cultural collision happening that makes me feel like I'm crazy sometimes.

Maybe they're used to various shortcuts in their writing that they picked up before autocorrect became common, but these habits are too idiosyncratic for autocorrect to handle properly. However, that doesn't explain the emails I've had to decipher that were typed on desktop keyboards. Has anyone else younger than 45 or so felt similarly frustrated with geriatrics' messages?

Took my daughter for a blood draw today and we got to use a vein visualization device for the first time. It wasn't this exact model, but it was pretty similar: https://christiemed.com/products/veinviewer-models/veinviewer-vision2/
Maybe I'm just basic, but I was really impressed. Apparently it uses an infrared camera to see the patient's blood vessels and then it uses a projector to display them on the patient's skin so that the phlebotomist has an easier time finding a good blood vessel. Brilliant!

This is what I get, of course, for putting the feeder in a spot that was convenient to refill. The deer have fed from it before without knocking it over, so I suspect that the buck that has been visiting my yard recently is the perpetrator. His stupid antlers probably got hooked onto the feeder or the shepherd's hook and that was that.
