My Daily Driver: Iris Split
  • The Iris is my favorite keyboard. I have built 3 of them so far. I agree about the top thumb cluster switches, but I put encoders on mine. I still don’t use them much, but they are “neat”. The bottom outside thumb cluster are extremely comfortable for my hands (it’s where my thumbs naturally rest) and are some of my most used keys (enter and fn). Space is my middle thumb cluster which is also great. The inner most ones are the hardest to reach, but are reserved for alt and win.

  • Anyone else disappointed with the durability of Ducky Keyboards?
  • The first few ducky’s I had were great (shine series), though I never dropped them from any height. The Ducky Legend series I had was terrible and died after a power outage at work. I think the board shorted or something, I never managed to revive it. The WASD Code keyboard I replaced them with was also great and took some abuse. I eventually switched to using split keyboard kits that probably couldn’t take that much physical abuse like drops, but have survived a water spill or two.
