Amsterdam Just Closed their Busiest Road
  • This is awesome! I loved that he pointed out the irony in car drivers complaining that closing the street would increase the amount of pollution because you know, they're soooo concerned about pollution.

  • David Mitchell's soapbox on trains

    > ... successive governments treat [trains] like and inconvenient elderly relative who wont do the decent thing and die, preferring, despite all of the obvious environmental advantages of trains over cars, to prostrate themselves before the road lobby and provide drivers with even vaster expanses of tarmac at the tax payers expense, to give the illusion of unsupported independence, as if their Mondeo could get them 20ft across a ploughed field.

  • Knock next time. I'm sitting in here. I'm fourteen, I got a computer in here y'know. You're really playing with fire when you bust in here like that, man. I mean one of these days you're going to end up seeing something.

  • Joe Rogan wants a "debate" on vaccine science. Don’t give it to him. How to have better conversations about contentious scientific subjects.
  • I'm rubbish at speaking fluently. If I had to try defending that the sun rises every day I'd still probably lose in a verbal debate. The fluency of someone's speach, or more often, how loudly they can talk over someone is not a reflection of the strength and quality of their arguments.
