Ten Thousand Crimson Hills - Li Keran (1907-89) ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ Ink on paper

People who pray at night to your God. What do you pray for and has any of it become true?
  • I pray to calm down. I ask for genuine connection with others, the wellbeing of my country, a wife, that my customers at work would enjoy themselves and we would make ends meet. Ask and you will receive.

Definitely making progress this year but it's been a slow road to 40. Friends with a common interest, that's finally coming about.

Those of you who don't vote, why?
  • Jury duty wasn't fun (child abuse case), but it was one hell of an education. I'm still greatful to have had such smart fellow jurors so we could really consider everything. You get to see how the world works.

  • Those of you who don't vote, why?
  • Our railways are fucked, our healthcare system is hanging by a thread. I'm so grateful for NHS care and investigations in the last year - dread to think how much Americans would have to pay to find out they have a shitty disease, let alone treat it.

  • Video Chess - Cliff Spohn (1979) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ
  • They really had to stimulate the imagination because graphics back then were basic. I was a 90's kid that bought PC games in a big box: with maps, wall posters, manuals, keyboard overlays. Exciting art all round.

  • Putt Putt - Jennifer Diehl (2019) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ
  • It's not AI, unless bots start posting here.

  • Ex Redditors of Lemmy what made you come on over? What happened at Reddit that you made the switch?
  • That was such a tidy little app :( Tried to wean myself off Reddit before 3rd party apps were disabled and a friend suggested lemme.

  • Submerged - Samantha French ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

Hong Kong Night Scene - Robert Watts

    A Better Friend - Okunade Olamilekan (b.1988) ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ
  • I did like to have a chat about art, not meeting enough artists in IRL. Doing life drawing next week though - good practice.

  • Untitled (Harry Dean Stanton) - Eric White (b.1968) ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ
  • Crikey, I hadn't even looked that close at the billboard! Sorry about that

  • Portrait of Teresa Wilms Montt - Julio Romero de Torres (1920) ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

  • And sometimes it's the outline pixelated, sometimes it's the colours

  • Sailing Boats, Morning - Yoshida Hiroshi (1926) ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต
  • Oh I missed it first time around. I need a stern telling off.

  • Migrants - Hans Baluschek (1924) ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

    Arm Wrestling - Daphne Todd (b.1947) ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

  • There's another in the left hand background, only just noticed myself.

  • Yemeni Women - Hakim Al-Akel (b.1965) ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ช
  • This one strongly reminds me of Klimt.

  • Yemeni Women - Hakim Al-Akel (b.1965) ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ช

    A Troubled Soul - Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918) ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ
  • Not sure I understand your post but yes, I'm repulsed by AI. Not to mention that AI draws from search engine results that are now becoming full of AI pictures. Talk about a snake eating itself, a snake with far too many hands and fingers and an oddly smooth appearance.

  • Self Portrait - Colin Davidson (2019) ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช
  • This is an excellent point. I often hear suggested by painters that they should hold a mirror to the work every now and then as it highlights any errors to be corrected.

  • Bradley Fighting Vehicle in Iraq - Matthew Cooke ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
  • It's going to punch through the wall into the court like the Coolaid man, firing tennis balls.
