/kbin server update - or how the server didn't blow up
  • @ernest this was an extraordinary situation with several crisis points on a platform in early development (as far as mass usage is concerned) and you were able to keep a cool head, keep things going and also keep people informed of the situations as they were developing. I am happy to read that you have help now (and it looks like really great expert help) and that you can take a break/retirement from admin and enjoy it with the rest of us. Bravo!

  • Hello from Lemmy! How’s life there over on the other side on Kbin?
  • @tauonite Hello and nice to see you! I couldn't look here much the last few days but it seems like we are federating again which is great!

  • what was your first exposure to the fediverse?
  • First exposure would probably be identica in 2010. For people getting started, these days I'd suggest less joining a specific platform and more by interest. Books -> bookwyrm , Video -> a Peertube instance, etc.

Great performances of music that you usually don't listen to

yt.floss.media Linkin Park - Crawling (Live with Chris Cornell)

Projekt Revolution 2008 Charlotte NC July 30 2008 Mike rapped the first verse of 'Hands Held High' over the Reanimated intro to 'Crawling'. Chris Cornell then joined the band for the song and sang the entire second verse, the outro, and Aaron's harmonies. Rest In Peace

Linkin Park - Crawling (Live with Chris Cornell)

Disclaimer- saw this on Reddit first, but it got me thinking that during the time of this concert (and before) I didn't listen to much modern metal or grunge and while I thought Linkin Park and Soundgarden were very talented, it just wasn't my style of music. It still isn't something I usually listen to but I found this performance really great and have watched it a few times over the last couple of days. It's awful that neither Chester Bennington or Chris Cornell are here today, but this one song performed together has me interested in revisiting the era and maybe listening more to what I missed the first time.
