Because money.
Sure, but Trump was already popular among the voterbase even before he entered politics, mainly on account of his reality shows. His unashamed pathological childish narcissism was seen as charismatic to the voters, a phenomenon that DeSantis can't really replicate to the same degree.
It is obvious that DeSantis is using the strategy of running a campaign on pure unadulterated hatred as a substitute for his lack of charisma in the eyes of his voters. A frightening testimony to the state of US politics that such a strategy is even seen as viable, but he does face the problem that the GOP has turned into a personality cult by their own design, and a large chunk of their voterbase are already invested in the cult of Trump. Hatred alone isn't going to make them change their cult leader, especially since Trump isn't exactly lacking in the hatred department either.
Unfortunately it currently isn't possible to block instances.
But that also blocks "non-pornographic NSFW content".
Indentured servants. Exactly how oligarchs prefer their workforce.
You can avoid it completely right now by simply joining one of the less crowded instances instead.
Kenshi, so no. If I were lucky I would manage to live as a half starved beaten up slave, but most likely probably dead after a single day.
That is quite a find. Looks like a bunch of uncut 18th century books in their original wrappers (well, mostly in wrappers).
I definitely agree with that, and I really don't have a good answer on how to create a financially secure image hosting service. But I do think that criticism of how they are approaching it on imgur at the moment is legitimate. In particular their intention of deleting pictures uploaded before the deadline by non-account users. This will only add to the unfathomable amount of link rot going on atm all over the internet.
Problem is that it is not just on the subject of cheating on your spouse that this is possible, any photographic evidence of a person committing an actual crime will also become worthless.
As someone who started out joining lemmy.world first as well, but have now moved over to lemm.ee, I can say from personal experience that it is a lemmy.world issue. No need to submit yourself to such lag when you can just move over to a smaller and less strained instance.
Serverload on lemmy.world is very strained atm, but there are lots of other instances where you get a much smoother experience. I started out creating an account on lemmy.world at the time of the reddit migration, but I soon discovered that the server was frequently down on account of the migration. So I switched to lemm.ee and the difference was very noticeable. I have switched back and forth the last couple of days, and loading times are still much higher on lemmy.world than lemm.ee, so I guess it is all about finding a smaller less busy instance if you want to rid yourself of the lag.
Since a lot of reddit migrants seems to have ended up on lemmy.world, I really hope the server lag isn't going to be a deterrant for them.
At this point in history it is basically 50/50 whether it is him. Heck, probably more than 50%.
imgur is also in a downward spiral of entshittification though. No uploading without an account, and all old images uploaded by people with no accounts are going to get deleted.
They want to be a social media site now, not an image hosting site.
Some good recommendations already, but Schitt's Creek is probably the series with the most positive feeling I've ever seen. Despite it containing conflict between characters, everybody are still tolerant of each other and you just get a good vibe from watching it.
It starts a bit slow, and initially you think the main characters are too insufferable, but the way the show slowly but surely forces you to reconsider those initial prejudices is really cleverly done as well.
As far as I understand it the block is only enforceable on chromium browsers. So firefox is unaffected.
I read the news about google wanting to do this some months ago, and I instantly switched to firefix from chrome. It was a very good decision.
