Until those sites go down, there's little worry (I hope)
Same, I want r/collapse and r/climatechange to come to lemmy but I also do not want to be the one running the show. I'm way too inactive regularly for that.
I'm liking it so far, I've been trying to explore other instances other than lemmy.one but, the login always turns into an infinite loading screen.
I'll try my best to post, however, on reddit, I was usually a lurker who never ever posted. Only commented. (Sometimes)
As a twitter refugee, mastodon is really confusing, and lonely. In which I have nothing on there to connect with other users. The thing that makes twitter have high user connectivity is a "trending" tab and quote tweets. Which does wonders for user connectivity.
In contrast, mastodon has none of those features that made twitter appealing to the masses. I understand keeping everything decentralized, but, some level of centralization is good for the userbase.
An example of this light centralization is lemmy, with its federation and "all" tab.

Normally, I would be against this, however, does the average instance owner have the money to maintain a server? No.
And give more power to Facebook? No. Sorry, I still call meta "Facebook." I kind of an old head despite being young.
As the other community said, right now, we're just here because of spez being an asshole. Let this situation end and it'll normalize
