What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?
  • I've been in the fediverse for a long time and and I've seen what a nightmare reddit is. So I can confidently say regardless of how long I've been in this community that I do not want to be a part of some kind of reddit 2.0 for all the reasons listed above.

  • What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?
  • I never really was on reddit and I am beginning to miss the lemmy that existed a few days ago, it felt a bit cozier , less hectic and friendlier overall. Now all the same old reddit posts have migrated over and it seems I see a lot more low effort mean spirited cheap 'jokes' everywhere

where should I go hiking in the Japanese Alps?

I can take a hike for 4 or maybe 5 days this summer in the Japanese Alps. The Northern Alps around tsurugidake seem like the place to be. But I was also considering central Alps for a shorter hike and then divert to Mt. Fuji which I've never seen before.

    Thoughts? Experiences? Ideas?

    What DEs are people using?
  • I use xmonad on my laptop with my small screen, and xfce on my desktop with a slightly roomier screen. I think tiling window managers tend to matter less and less as emacs has begun to take over all of my time on the computer everything tends to stay in one or two emacs frames (and many buffers).

  • Airplane! It's okay just not my cup of tea

  • What's your grail pen?
  • I would want a slightly longer version of a kaweco sport with an integrated filling mechanism and a broad nib. I almost have that with my shaeffer pocket pen, but it needs more length and a clip.

  • Subreddits you are going to miss?
  • Stupid food

  • I have a new hobby that gets me out walking in my neighborhood, even down side streets I've never visited. It also forces me to slow down and notice all the details I've never stopped to take in!
  • I haven't used it for a few years but a while back I had street complete and went in a road trip visiting family, and I was able to map a big portion of each of their neighborhoods.

It also helped me discover a lot of hidden trails around my own neighborhood and eventually one of my gpx traces ended up marking out previously unmapped path through the woods, that even google does not yet have.
