New spell announced
The fact your own identity can slip away is horror! PHNI-JP070 突然回帰 Back Mutation Normal Spell Card You can only activate 1 card with this card's name once per turn. (1) Tribute 1 Fusion or Synchro…
Really fascinating one - lets you tribute a synchro or fusion monster to special summon a monster with the same level from deck. Anything funny that can be done with this? Off the top of my head: Ready Fusion plus this gets any Lvl 6 or lower monster out of the deck.
Duel Links Rush Duels
Long time no post! Just wanted to mention that I've been trying out Rush Duels in Duel Links. The basic concept is really fun . . . but since I have no idea what is or isn't good, I'm hoarding my gems rather than buy the pack/structure deck. Can anyone with some Rush Duels experience give me a sense of whether any of the current cards are worth picking up?

Bye Ariseheart! RIP bozo, you will not be missed (by me at least)
Interesting Ritual Archetype Announced (also technically legacy support)
Three unrelated Ritual Monsters are actually buddies from college. Note: This theme's name, 粛声 (Shukusei), is a play on 粛正 (Shukusei), i.e. Enforcement or Regulation. It's also a play on Novox'
I think this one is worth keeping an eye on. The Lvl 7 is quite powerful - it's an omni on a body - and is searchable with the continuous spell the Lvl 1 gets. Saffira also can search ANY light Warrior or Dragon ritual on discard, and I bet there's something good to get with that.
Was that an Unchained mirror??? So cool
Dragon Ruler XYZ abilities revealed
Hopefully we get 3 more just like him! VJMP-JP243 Seiharyuu – Blaze / Blaze, Supreme Ruler of Dragons FIRE Dragon / Xyz / Effect RK7 2800/1800 2 Level 7 monsters You can only use the 2nd effect of…
Whoops! Totally missed this getting announced.
Looks pretty cool! You can detach a material to pop one of your opponent's cards and one of the cards on your field or in your hand. There's got to be a deck that put out two Lvl 7s and wants to destroy things in hand, right?
The second effect lets you banish 2 Fire or Dragon monsters from grave or hand to SS the XYZ from the grave. If it leaves the field, it goes back to the extra.
My le zeus . . . It . . . Le sent cards from field to grave???
Anyone play Rush Duel?
With Rush Duel coming to Duel Links, was thinking of redownloading the app to check out the new way of playing. Good idea or no? Is Rush Duel any fun?
List of archetypes in Top 8 at Team YCS São Paulo
Team Better Have It would eventually go on to win the whole thing. So cool to see Unchained be a viable deck.
Maybe they can errata the card to make it only summonable on your own turn - and do the same for Kali Yuga while they're at it.
Should King Calamity be banned?
Please check this page to see the official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG rules for {0}. You can also search for Decks containing this card. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Card Database is an official Konami Site for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
I personally think so. We have too many tools to synch on an opponent's turn now, and Calamity's effect is just too oppressive.
Centurion thematics
Let's promise to come back together in one piece, alright? DBVS-JP021 誓いのエンブレーマ Chikai no Emblema (Emblema of Oath) Quick-Play Spell Card You can only activate 1 card with this card's name per turn.
Is anyone else just not vibing with the flavor of the upcoming Centurion archetype? The mechanical stuff it does is really cool - I love that we're getting another deck that does stuff by treating monsters as continuous spell/traps. But every time I look at the card art my eyes just kind of glaze over. It's like someone put Strikers and Dva from Overwatch in a blender to make the blandest smoothie possible.
Then again, maybe I'm just whining for no reason (wouldn't be first time). Anyone else have thoughts on this?
Seriously, what are they gonna do now lol

NADIR'S TO THREE HELL YEAH
Playing in a Rotation format tournament today and got my ass absolutely blasted by mirror force. Nostalgic!
Dragon Ruler XYZ speculation
Are they back? 征覇竜-ブレイズ / Blaze, The Supreme Ruler of Dragons FIRE/Dragon Xyz/Effect Rank 7 [SECRET] The accompanying text only insists it's a Rank 7 (or "high rank") Dragon Xyz Monster and that it…
This got announced as a promo a few days back. I was going to wait for the effect reveal before posting about it, but since the Rulers are such famous cards, I think it would be fun to guess what this new Ruler will do.
My crystal ball says this will require the fire Ruler to make, and will have some kind of burn effect.
For Monarchs specifically, I think it would be cool to give them some spells/traps that can be activated from hand. That way Morganite becomes a more viable choice.
Another option that would be cool (but maybe not balanced?) would be a special summonable little guy with an effect like "If this card is tributed for the tribute summon of a monster with 2400 attack and 1000 defense, any effects of the tribute summoned monster that activate upon being summoned can apply twice." Double Caius banish/Thestalos rip would be very funny.
Makes sense - Droll shuts down a lot of very strong decks.

Not always a big fan of Yugituberstm, but this clip was funny. Please do not support anyone trying to turn yugioh cards into dumb internet apes.
What's everybody playing in Master Duel?
I imagine some of us are Master Duel enjoyers - what are we playing at the moment? I'm having lots of fun with a Dinomist deck that splashes a small Symphonic engine to search off Electrumite. As long as you pretend zone locks don't exist, you can almost imagine it's a good deck!
It was called Magic and Wizards at first???? Jeez, really wearing the MTG inspiration on its sleeve there
God, keywords would be so helpful on yugioh cards. Maybe someday!
That's super cool! I'd love it if you made a post about the OG manga - I think lots of people would be interested in your thoughts on the series
Visas Unchained
This deck is, like, actively not good. There are so many better things you could be doing with the new Unchained support. But I read Manadium Abscission and turned into one of those pointing soyface dudes, so I had to try and brew some jank with Visas and Unchained.
This is a going second deck since Unchained can play through a decent amount of interruption, so we get to run Illegal Knight as another Fiend body/a bit of interaction. Possibly the funniest play in the deck is a two-card combo with Visas and any of the little Unchained dudes. Summon the Unchained, pop with Visas to special summon itself, then use the popped Unchained's effect to go into Sharvara. Send Visas and Sharvara to make Ultimaya Tzolkin; and since Sharvara sets a trap when it goes to grave, it instantly triggers Tzolkin, letting you summon out Crystal Wing. I'm sure there's much stronger things you could do with two 6s (Beatrice?) but I love Tzolkin.
She's toxic as hell, but I love all the wacky things you can do with Isolde.
I took a screenshot of Omega, a free online dueling simulator. It's kind of like duelingbook or edopro if you've ever used those.
Centurion archetype announced
No magical girls? No mechs? Let's fix that! TOGETHER. Note: Centurion is the term for a commander of a century, a military unit consisting of 100 legionaires. DBVS-JP016 重騎士(センチュリオン)プリメラ Centurion…
Continuing the trend of pairing cool mech designs with goofy anime girls, Centurion is like Sky Striker thematics combined with Crystal Beast mechanics. Also a generic 12 star synchro - not too many of those running around.
New Yubel support
Now you have a reason to run Super Polymerization in your Yubel Deck. The Artwork for the Booster Pack! PHNI-JP001 スピリット・オブ・ユベル Spirit of Yubel Level 10 DARK Fiend Effect Monster ATK 0 DEF 0 You can…
Extremely funny that two notorious banned cards - Samsara Lotus and Grinder Golem - are getting retrains as Yubel support. I never watched the GX show; were they a part of Yubel's deck originally?
Heroes are always very cool, and 245 is honestly pretty cheap nowadays.
Mathmech could be another option maybe? I didn't do my own price list like you did, but a lot of the lists here look decently competitive: https://yugiohtopdecks.com/decks/Mathmech. Kurikara and Thrust are the biggest expenses, and I feel like both are helpful but not mandatory.
New Fire King support
Diversifying the options you can access in the next stand-by phase. SR14-JP003 En'oujuu Hanuman (Flame King Beast Hanuman) / Fire King Avatar Hanuman Level 4 FIRE Beast-Warrior/Effect ATK 1600 DEF 200…
The new quickplay spell looks particularly good - pop your dudes, get their effects, and destroy your opponent's cards. Really happy about all the Fire attribute love lately.
Hmm, good question. A deck that I would call "straightforward" is Floowandereeze . . . but I'm not sure you'll make many friends at locals if you play it!
Maybe try Swordsoul or Gold Pride? Swordsoul generally sets up two powerful synchros as an end board and feels strong but fair to play against. Gold Pride is just a cool deck with fun thematics that can still flex its muscles a bit.
World Champion DLink Decklist
Bystial Dragon Link / Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 1st Place - YGOPRODeck
Here, at least according to YGOProdeck, is Paulie Aronson's tournament-winning DLink deck. I don't know the first thing about DLink; is 45 cards standard? Is it normal to run 2 Seals in the extra?
Clearly it worked for Paulie!
2023 physical card game World Champion
Paul Aronson of America wins the championship with DLink! The deck truly will not die. Seals pass is an OTK.
Again, I don't have his exact decklist (i.e. YGOPro hasn't posted them yet). I'll look to do a master post with a list of the Top 8 decklists once they're released.
Master Duel 2023 World Champions!
Josh, Quantal, and Emre take home the first ever Master Duel World Championship. I was really hoping to see Jesse Cotton go all the way, but there's no denying that Team Euro are a force to be reckoned with.
To see the archetypes that they were playing, check out https://www.masterduelmeta.com/articles/news/august-05-2023/world-championship-rundown. Note that this doesn't include the actual decklists, which I imagine we'll get pretty soon here now that the tournament is over.
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely haven't done a good job of keeping up with competitive news (or really yu-gi-oh news in general), but you can expect that to change at least a little bit - I'm planning to post a lot of content about the World Championship.
