Btw, you can keep circle to search on and use GoodLock to remove the nav bar. You just press and hold in the middle where the nav bar would be to activate circle to search
I would generally agree with you, but in this case, Verizon has already been subject to such a rule for over a decade as a condition of the 700MHz spectrum. Verizon does offer subsidized/financed devices like the other carriers, it just doesn't SIM lock them beyond the initial period.
Given this data point, I think it's a good idea to expand to the other carriers.
Just want to note that this effectively doesn't apply to Verizon because they already have such a rule, which was imposed over a decade ago as a condition of the 700MHz spectrum.
This means we already know such a rule works for carriers and we can apply it to the others.
I have a Galaxy S24 with the gesture bar hidden. It lets me do circle to search by holding down where the gesture bar would be.
I would love to put Linux on the computer side for daily use and then use the Android side for high resolution video streaming (Netflix, etc). Looks like a very unique device that will be great for those who can appreciate what it has to offer. Very cool!
I am a huge cabbage fan as well. To the vinegar I would also add oil, salt, and pepper. Other nice touches include some shredded carrots or a bit of raw onion.
I just ate some of this on a veggie burger. It was like 50% cabbage, 50% everything else
At least on Chrome OS, update engine does have a recall feature. The server can say, "if you've downloaded and installed an update and you're waiting to boot into it, cancel it and stick with what you have"
Yup. It could also be hardware failure in the sense of a flakey power button. Either way, it's probably not people intentionally pushing the power button a lot
In my household of four, we typically use about 400 GB of data per month (at about 4:1 download to upload ratio) on our fiber Internet connection. It's a lot of VC meetings for work and after school activities and the usual media streaming. We also have phones on the Wi-Fi while at home.
Has anyone tried the new battery changing settings? I'm curious for details on that
While not great as a general file manager, I use this app to launch into the hidden, built in file manager in Android. The major benefit is that it can access apps' data directories. Every other file manager is blocked from that (at least without root).
I must admit you make some good points
That looks really good! But I would mix it up before eating, haha
Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro US prices leak
Tl;Dr:
Pixel 8: $699 Pixel 8 Pro: $899
Hmmm, sounds like all extensions will need to adopt the module system. I guess I'll be careful about making sure my extensions are updated before updating to Gnome 45
T-Mobile is now offering a new promotional rebate card. The new card comes with stipulations you should know about.
The transition from the CCS1 to the Tesla's NACS charging connector is expected to kill the SAE J1772 (AC) plug, because NACS can be used for both AC and DC.
I was wondering with all the talk of NACS, what would happen to J1772. I think I found the answer, unless folks here see it differently. Thanks!
Help identify disguised tower?
Hey folks, I found this tower in Socal that's tagged as T-Mobile on the map, but walking around it, doesn't seem to broadcast T-Mobile or AT&T LTE as seen by my Pixel 4a.
Location: 33.6912733, -117.9781491
Currently tagged as eNBs 191435 and 96964 on CellMapper.
I'm wondering if this might be a Verizon or Dish setup? Or perhaps legacy of some sort? Any ideas?
Here's a photo of the base as well.
Edit: here's an album with more photos: https://imgur.com/gallery/ocEoS9O
Also, I looked at my CellMapper CSV history, and I saw this tower last year (2022) at this time (on vacation here) but this year (2023) I am walking all over the area and not seeing it. To me this suggests that perhaps it's gone to Dish.

Hey folks, I've been trying out AT&T Postpaid. Prior to joining, it was a real paid to estimate what the taxes and fees would be. Well, now that I have that information from my bill, I'm sharing it out.
This sheet shows the monthly charges (2 lines on Starter + 1 on Extra, all with 25% discount from having AT&T Fiber). It also shows the fees breakdown and does a line by line comparison with what AT&T public docs say the fees could be.
Happy to answer any questions.

Hey folks, I've been trying out AT&T Postpaid (I know, I know, this is more of a prepaid group). Prior to joining, it was a real paid to estimate what the taxes and fees would be. Well, now that I have that information from my bill, I'm sharing it out.

tamarind cauliflower and fried rice
I used unsweetened tamarind concentrate with a bit of water a the sauce, so the cauliflower was a bit tart, but overall very good!

Anyone else getting an ad blocker notice?
What's weird is I have no ad blockers of any kind. I've been getting this on both WiFi and LTE. Anyone else?
wireless customers: autopay discount decrease when paying with credit card
On October 2, 2023, your AutoPay and paperless bill discount will go from $10 a line to $5 a line if you use a credit card to pay your bill.
Tl;Dr: starting on October, autopay discount will change from $10/line/mo to $5/line/mo. Affected plans are listed at the bottom, but seems like many/most postpaid are there. You can keep the $10 autopay discount by using debit or linked bank account.
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is now available on the Google Play Store on Chromebook.
Just saw this! I'm curious if it's an Android app or using the Linux subsystem.
can reps check if numbers qualify for third line free?
Hey folks, I'm guiding some extended family on switching to T-Mobile from Consumer Cellular (AT&T Sims). They were switching sims with T-Mobile ones from Consumer Cellular, since CC used to support T-Mobile and AT&T.
Anyway, given that switching, I'm worried they may not qualify for the third line free. Is this something that can be verified before they switch?
How to oil these door hinges?
Full photos for reference: https://imgur.com/a/sEEZez7 (the post photo is here because Wefwef said I need to attach a photo)
Previously I've lubricated plenty of door hinges by popping out the pin, putting a bit of petroleum jelly, and hammering out back in. This door goes to our garage, tho, and it seems to have different looking hinges.
I'm curious what's the best course of action. Is there a pin that can be easily removed like most interior doors, or do I need to do something different?
Thanks in advance to this new community!
Activation fees waived today+tomorrow
Looks like online orders get activation/dcc fees waived. I saw on another site that the last day is tomorrow, and that this will apply in store as well, tho have no confirmation of those.
I used to live with a good friend of mine, JT or “Fancy Nancy” (it’s a long story). We shared living space, dog duties, a desire to cook dinners in nearly every night, good oli…
I've used this as inspiration, tho never fully constructed the exact salad dressing as described. I definitely love some peanut dressing with lettuce, tho!
A filling and satisfying dish, this Avocado and Three Bean Salad is the perfect side to any meal. You need to try it as soon as possible.
This is a pretty simple but solid bean salad. I try to cut everything to roughly the same size. BTW, if you want a smaller portion and you want to use canned beans, you can usually find a three bean mix in one can.
Dumb, cheap phone for kid?
Hey folks, my wife and I use Pixel phones, but we're starting to think about a phone for our kid, really just to be able to call 911, probably wouldn't even get data. We're looking for cheap and boring, the fewer features, the better. Also open to smart watches, tho we have no experience with them.
Are there any devices that fit the bill? I'm thinking something like an old Nokia brick from 20 years ago, but of course with VoLTE/VoNR.
Thanks for any help this community can provide!
Verizon + T-Mobile?
Can folks confirm this is Verizon (utility pole) and T-Mobile (building)? This is located at https://maps.app.goo.gl/9Q5ahxojr7wpJz6RA
Thanks very much!
Everything can be salad dressing
I know there are some classics like oil and vinegar, but when it comes down to it, actually a lot of foods can work as salad dressing.
One simple dressing I make is a lazy peanut sauce: peanut butter, some sweet chili sauce, and a bit of hot water. Toss a few peanuts onto your leaves and it's pretty solid.
But I've gone a lot further. If you have leftover soup or chili, that usually works pretty well. But you can also use pretty much any curry or really any stir fry. If there are big chunks, like a strip of seitan, you can either live with it, or spread it on a cutting board and chop chop chop before you toss it with the leaves.
As for the leaves, my preference is something sturdy like finely shredded green cabbage or romaine.
I know this post is a bit odd, not being a recipe. I just wanted to share that when it comes to salad, it's easy to be creative if you get out of the traditional salad mindset.
