'He is in serious jeopardy': Legal expert warns Trump his back is against the wall
  • In your scenario, do you imagine that all the Trump-appointed prosecutors and the Trump-appointed judges will willingly delay the cases of Trump's "enemies of the state" until after the election out of some respect for the sanctity of the democratic process?

It is a horrible, dangerous precedent to say we can't justly hold the guilty accountable because some bad actor in the future may unjustly hold the innocent accountable.

  • What do you wish was true about you?
  • I wish I were more handy or had the mindset for tinkering and doing mechincal repairs. I lack the focus and spatial awareness to look at something, diagnose the problem, and effectively repair it or jury-rig a solution around it.

  • People of Lemmy, what games have you been playing lately?
  • Drova: Forsaken Kin, very fun 2D RPG in the Gothic mold...i.e., you start off weak and will get your ass kicked by rats and wasps, getting your first set of real armor takes hours and feels like a major power-up, multiple factions you can join that are deeper than "good guy vs bad guy." Small development team (I think it's just 6 German dudes) but they're actively engaged and quick with patches.

  • How one become a caffeine addict?
  • How old are you? The side-effects or withdrawal symptoms didn't really become noticeable for me until my mid-30s...I went from feeling fine whether I had caffeine or not, to getting a headache in the afternoon if I missed my morning coffee, to waking up with a headache already that wouldn't go away until I upped my dose.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • For me, it was being able to recognize that my parents were well-meaning but imperfect people and not getting angry about it. There was the normal childhood period when I looked up to them and just assumed they could do no wrong, then the reactionary teenage anger phase of, "Fuck you, old man! You don't know me!"

It wasn't until around 26 or so that I had calmed down enough to say/feel without malice , "I am going to live my life the way I want to live my life, you may not understand or agree with some of my decisions, and that's OK. I'm not required to justify or explain them to you."

  • Time to try (pretend) to listen
  • I'm new to the ADHD party, in part because I assumed I didn't have it because I was never H. After reading up on it more though, I think it refers to mental hyperactivity, not just physical hyperactivity. I was never the kid that always spoke up out of turn or had trouble sitting still, but I'm definitely the one that starts/stops projects out of the blue and can't get to sleep because too many thoughts.

  • Trump: "Energy is so big. It's so like amorphous. It's all over the place. If you make donuts, it's a stove"
  • Take a second to remind yourself that if "this is one of the most coherent thing's he's said," how far the bar has been lowered for him and this behavior.

"It's not fair to pick on him for this, he completed a full sentence!" Oh, well whoopity-fucking-doo for him.

  • How is your week going ?
  • Good: Off work tomorrow because my wife is doing her US naturalization / oath of citizenship ceremony and then we're spending the weekend on a paddling/camping trip.

Bad: Grandma was diagnosed with bowel cancer and has less than 6 months to live.

  • Football Manager 25 delayed til March 2025
