That literally made me lol irl. Luckily I'm alone with just my dog.
I've seen this sub before in All, but yours just made me subscribe.
(I'm probably still using reddit lingo, but whatever, you get what I mean)
First of all, yes, to the childhood, sooo much yes.
I finally got diagnosed at 36 when I, after homeschooling my kid through ONE MONTH of Covid went, "Holy shit this kid has ADHD." Cuz she was trying to pay attention, and I could see that she was, her brain would just drift off somewhere else... Anyway. One month, lightbulb, diagnosis, medication. Meanwhile I was literally homeschooled my entire childhood and my parents missed it.
Her diagnosis lead to mine, and at 36 there I am telling my mom that I've been diagnosed, annnnd she basically reacted like I had decided to dye my hair a different color. Like it was just a fun new fact to know about me.
I don't know why I was expecting more, I don't know why I was expecting her to react the way I would have if I'd found out I failed my kid that hard... Man that stung.
On the one hand, I miss the play places, but on the other hand I DO NOT miss the insane super colds my kid came down with the next day or two.
Not in a very long time. Felt like time travel seeing that bun.
Thank you for this comment!! I switched to "Top Day" and I'm seeing posts I hadn't seen before that aren't even new! Like a normal ass front page should be.
Thank you!
Those are my thoughts exactly. As someone else pointed out, the tines on 5 are fucking immaculate as well. I want those tines!
Ugh, I hadn't noticed the tines! That's such a good point... Can I order handle 3 with the tines of 5?
I'm also having a problem with my feed in this instance, I can basically choose from "Active" and "Hot" which are 2-3 day old posts, all of which I've seen 100 times already, or "New" which are brand spanking new and have no comments yet, thus no discussion, and discussion is my jam!
I keep seeing people complaining about their feeds refreshing too quickly, meanwhile I'm dying for my feeds to refresh AT ALL.
I repeat their name back to them (helps a little, makes sure I heard right), tell them straight up l probably forget their name a couple times, and once they walk away I repeat their name a few times while trying to picture their face/anything interesting about them.
It semi works, but I've also let them know in advance that if I forget, it's normal for me and not that I don't care.
I also try to say their name often in conversation with/about them to help solidify it in my brain... But then they quit the job (most people I meet are at work, and turnover is high) and I start alllll over again with someone new. Sigh
Agreed. I struggle with new things and have had some frustrations figuring out Lemmy, but like... It's really not that hard. And I'm not young and hip anymore, nor have I ever been very tech savvy. But I figured it out.
Dude just has a lack of give-a-damn.
