Why not serve fried chicken on Juneteenth? How is it different from serving corned beef on St. Patrick’s day?
  • Um, but actual Irish-Americans love eating corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's day. It's racist to celebrate your heritage? Or just to try things from other people's cultures?

  • Libraries buy licenses to do so from the publishers, but that's unrelated to what I said.

I'm saying the judge found that IA violated its own CDL, so even if its interpretation of the law was correct, the IA would still be liable.

  • Libraries do not make unlimited copies of books so everyone can check it out at the same time without wait. Obviously the EFF doesn't want to admit its client did that because it destroys their case, but that's what the judge found the IA stupidly did.

Hamas Wants Guarantees Ceasefire Will Actually Happen, While US Says Hamas Is Rejecting the Proposal
  • they are the folks bargaining for Gazans

Hamas's sole goal is to bait Israel into killing as many Palestinians as possible so they can unite the Arab world via their mutual hatred for Jews. The only reason they're even making a façade of negotiating is so headlines can make Israel look unreasonable for not accepting their one-sided deals.

  • I still feel a can is the easiest and least wasteful solution. You pour the grease in and put the can in the cupboard until next time. Unless you're cooking bacon all the time, it takes a long time to fill up. You don't need more than one or have to wait.

  • That's not climate change; that's just a precedented drought and media trying to cash on doomscrolling climate change. It's done the exact same thing almost every year. Rain has always been somewhat random.

EVs Could Last Nearly Forever—If Car Companies Let Them
  • More it still exists because they were literally incapable of replacing it. They weren't good quality; people just didn't have any other options. I'm sure we can make our cars last just as long if we clamp the screws tighter and ensure no one can afford to buy a new car.

  • Yeah, I'm assuming most people are American or European. I think 40% is a high estimate, but even among the lactose intolerant people I know in real life, I've never met one who thinks drinking milk is weird. Most even consume dairy products, just lactose-free versions or enduring the consequences.
