Glad they’re pushing urn as a comeback mechanic even more with the slightly easier deposit point.
Also changing the comeback benefit to only kicking in at a 8% soul gap makes sense, was kind of dumb that having a 1k difference had them kick in lol.
Lot of other changes too, haven’t had a chance to read them all.
Yeah I cringed typing it but it was shorter than “In Season Tournament”.
Some are pretty nice but the top left one (think it’s the pelicans) is terrible with that green.
Wish the bucks wouldn’t go with blue, don’t like their blue jerseys either.
NBA Emirates Cup Court Designs
This years designs are below organized by the groups, what does everyone think?
Link since the pic with all of them isn’t the easiest to see some of them.
Here are mine, reaching on them a bit for sure but not taking this too seriously.
-
Ben Simmons has a pretty good season and plays at least 60 games. Not a big fan of his but it’s a contract year lol if it’s going to happen it’s gonna be this year.
-
Celtics don’t make it past the conference finals. This one is hot especially after the opening night game but think their front court is weak and they got a bit lucky last year with the injuries in the East. Probably the one I’m at most risk of looking stupid on though.
-
OKC doesn’t make it to the conference finals. I’ve seen some taking them to win the west or at least get there but I think they still have some growing pains in the playoffs this year and go out in the 2nd round. The future is incredibly bright for them though, think they are perennial contenders in the west after this year.
Bold Predictions and Hot Takes!
With the season just starting thought it would be fun to post some predictions for the season for us to look back on at the end and see how they turned out.
Who’s going to have a breakout year?
Dark horse candidates for awards?
Surprises and upsets for the playoffs?
Anything else you want to throw out there is fine too!

I agree, Middleton looked good last playoffs too which made it hurt more that Giannis wasn’t healthy.
They haven’t had everyone healthy for playoffs since the year they won. They took Boston to game 7 without Middleton the year after and then Giannis has been out the last 2 years. If everything can click I actually think they’re right there with Boston but that is a big if it seems.

Not really surprising but unfortunate.

The specific comment I responded to was talking about whether liberals are leftists.
If you’re asking whether I believe liberals support a little wealth distribution (specific amount depends on the individual) in the form of taxes for social programs I’d say yes the meme isn’t absolutely correct.
I’d also probably recommend to you just to save you time is to not take leftist memes (or any really) as a literal/specific endorsement of a policy or idea, it’s likely an exaggeration.
Didn’t say you couldn’t attempt some wealth redistribution under capitalism but it’s not really related to what the discussion was. The left/right dichotomy for political economics isn’t based on whether there’s an attempt at wealth redistribution it’s whether the economic system is capitalism.
Also at the end of the day you can try to gain concessions from the capitalist class through social programs but there’s a hard limit on what will be allowed and as soon as the capitalist class is able to they will push for austerity for the working class. It’s been seen numerous times in history.
And they all still enshrine the sanctity of private property which was my point when referencing the definition. All the variations of liberalism still boil down to a capitalist ideology.
There is a set definition for what liberalism is.
Because it considers private property a core foundation it literally can’t be left wing. Leftists (whether socialists or anarchists) believe private (not personal) property should be abolished.

Hey everyone, as @[email protected] just mentioned, they reached out about possibly moving this community to a new instance. I had been meaning to see if before this season starts if we wanted to move away from .world anyway due to the issues we had before with rezz getting banned for the high seas links.
I never got around to confirming with any instance admins if they'd allow those out in the open and it looks like rgullis would allow a bot that could DM links to the sites which might be a better/more sustainable workaround if everyone is open to it?

Just realized that even though they weren’t involved in the trade Denver is a huge winner here. Felt like having 3 bigs they could put on Jokic was huge and no other team really has that.
Damn way too young, one of the funnest players to watch highlights of. Wish his family the best.
Per The Athletic's Shams Charania, the T-Wolves are trading the three-time All-Star to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a first-round draft pick via the Detroit Pistons.
Charania added that Charlotte Hornets are also included in the trade as part of a three-team deal. The Knicks are sending salary, including DaQuan Jeffries, and draft compensation to the Hornets in the exchange.
The draft pick is a 2025 top-13 protected pick, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Deal makes sense for Knicks for sure since they need center depth and I kinda see what the wolves are going for but feels a little light on the return but maybe I’m not valuing Randle right.

I agree Minnesota is the best option, they usually have one of highest travel miles in the leagues each season and it’ll make the division rivalries match other sports more.
As a Nuggets/Bucks fan it’s really weird they play the Nuggets more than the Bucks given their locations.
Edit: I do wonder if they’ll go to 4 divisions of 4 in each conference and how that’ll affect the schedule. Can’t really go any other way and have even divisions though unless it’s 8 team divisions.
Shams typically got the breaking news about as often as Woj so he’ll be the one to follow I’d say.
Shams seemed to have more contacts with players/agents and Woj had it in with front offices so it’ll be interesting to see if 1 person fills the front office void or if it’ll be a couple people but I’m leaning towards the latter.

> Per Bontemps, the new rules will allow for officials to review whether a foul should have been called on an out-of-bounds play. That means that even if a replay shows the ball going off a certain team's player and out of bounds, the other team won't gain possession if it is determined they committed a foul on the play.
> Bontemps added that the rule changed was approved by the NBA Board of Governors on Tuesday, and commissioner Adam Silver will further explain the changes later in the day following the meetings.
