I don't mind it if the game was always free to play. They gotta make their money somehow if that's the case. The problem I have with Overwatch and the microtransactions is that they went free to play after they already made a fuck ton of money off of loot boxes and the fact that you used to actually have to buy the game. It's just a cash cow and gameplay (including matchmaking, like you said) has suffered considerably. Not only that but they charge as much money as entire games for skins. Games like Overwatch when it first came out.
I don't mind microtransactions in free to play games, I really don't. It's just the method they are using is just blatantly greedy and targeted for whales that will pay anything for fear of missing out.
Well, they also sell weapon skins that cost as much as the entire game used to cost. So I'm sure they are just trying to do damage control while also not changing their monetization.
I'm not saying this ruined my day. But I'm not saying it made it substantially better either.
All I'm seeing is someone making up assumptions about people on the Internet based on what you want to be mad about. Not to be rude, but It's just that it's the same shit you're bitching about other people doing except you're doing it to Internet strangers instead of a president. All I'm saying is that it's a very unhealthy mindset to always assume you're right and they are wrong instead of participating in a discussion. How are you supposed to get people to see your perspective if the first thing you do is insult them? Based off of your first comment it comes off as you being the one that doesn't want a discussion.
You do know that the president isn't responsible for every little thing that happens in this country, right? If you actually read the article you'd know it was just the police. They warned them that they needed to leave and they were arrested with no resistance. Not even charged as of yet.
I'm not saying it was the right thing to arrest them, I'm just saying that blaming the president for every little thing that happens that is even slightly political is just stupid.
Can't call it a crowded market when the vast majority of games under the "hero shooter" category are cheap at best and excessively greedy at worst. As a long time Overwatch and Apex Legends player I've been waiting years for a good replacement. I'm not saying Concord is that game to replace said hero shooters (And games like Valorant are in a category of their own.) I'm just saying that if there was an actual competitor to a fast paced game like Overwatch that isn't as blatantly greedy, I would 100% play it.
The community is thirsty for a fresh take on the hero shooter and everyone I know that plays Overwatch and Apex Legends are in the same boat. It's why games like Team Fortress 2 are having a resurgence. The only reason we play these games is because they are the best gameplay wise. At the same time, the bar is so low we'll give any game that wants to put in the effort a try. I played the beta of Concord and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's rough around the edges, don't get me wrong. But that's what betas are for. I paid $40 for Overwatch before it went free to play and they locked all cosmetics, old and new, behind a paywall. So if it's decent I'll pay $40 for Concord.
Honestly I haven't heard any good news about Microsoft in like 10 years. They just keep making awful decisions.
Yes. Exactly like that...
I've only just started reading the books a couple years ago so I must ask: Is this based on the literal fuck ton of canon material? Or are they just pulling this out of nowhere for the sake of making a prequel instead of using the literal fuck ton of canon material at their disposal?
Why not commit and just shoot yourself in the ear? I'm surprised they don't just walk around with an orange wig on at this point.
It's not review bombing. Review bombing would be if they were spamming negative reviews on Titanfall 2 because of what they did to Apex. This is just making a negative review because it's justified.
If only it were that easy I totally would. Trust me I've tried looking into it before.
I almost feel bad for you guys. You guys are gonna feel old a lot sooner than I did. The way I spoke was still relevant at least until I was 23ish and then slowly tapered off.
Just take solace in the fact that when you guys are all my age you're gonna cringe so fucking hard at the way you spoke you'll collapse into a black hole. It happens to all of us so it's probably better if you know less.
I hate that I understand that. I don't have kids, I just have a friend that uses all that lingo even though he's 30. He's super cool, but super cringe some times lol.
Where's Jolly Roger? He's the most famous of all of them!
While I agree with you to a certain extent, these technologies always take different paths depending on those priorities. The thing with 3d and 2d graphics was that they were working with limiting technology. In fact I would even use that as an argument against just "building a better machine." Back then they had to make software work with the limitations of the hardware. You couldn't just duct tape two SNES's together and get better performance. They had to be efficient or have no product to even release. Nowadays you can just buy more computing power. Even when it comes to graphics there are so many companies that release unoptimized software onto the market because the consumer can just "build a better machine." Crypto has so much unnecessary redundancy that all of the computations just get thrown out the window while only 1 computer gets to add to the Blockchain and gets that reward for the actual mining.
Those older industries had more limitations than we did so they had to make it as efficient as possible. Now we have so much computing power there is no incentive to make things more efficient save for long term viability. Which none of these companies give a shit about as long as they are making money. I'm not saying they need to hit the magic "efficiency" button. I'm just saying they're lazy and making everyone else pay the price.
Well they are definitely prioritizing one over the other.
That dude was probably laughing his ass off while drawing it too.
